Did you know that 9-1-1 dispatchers across the nation handle approximately 240 million 9-1-1 calls per year? They are often referred to as the "first, first responder", as they are the first link in the vital chain of responders and often times help with giving lifesaving instructions prior to responders arriving on scene!

WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO?

You are often already at the scene when an accident, disaster, or violent incident happens. Knowing what to do turns a helpless bystander into an immediate lifesaver.

Would you know how to help?

Last month, we met with the Marcus High School AFJROTC Cadets to answer that question through hands-on Stop the Bleed training.
Our instructors taught cadets how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and, most importantly, how to take action when seconds matter.

During the training, cadets practiced:
🩸 Applying direct pressure
🩸 Packing a wound
🩸 Properly applying a tourniquet
🩸 Recognizing when bleeding requires immediate attention

This isn't just another class. These are real-world skills that can be used anywhere while waiting for professional medical help to arrive.

We appreciate the Marcus High School AFJROTC Cadets for showing up ready to learn and taking an important step toward being prepared to help others.

Preparedness starts with knowing what to do.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless lives forever changed by that day.

On September 9, 2,977 drones rose over New York Harbor, creating a breathtaking tribute to those who were lost. The lights first came together in a swirling helix before forming the Twin Towers at full architectural scale.

There were exactly 2,977 lights, one for every life lost in the September 11 attacks.

The installation, “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor,” was created for the 25th anniversary of 9/11. As the tribute came to an end, the towers gradually returned to individual lights, each symbolizing a life, a family, a story, and a memory.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Today is National Police K-9 Day!

We are incredibly grateful for the brave K-9 heroes who protect our streets and the handlers who lead them.

These extraordinary dogs are more than just valuable law enforcement assets. They are loyal partners, fearless protectors, and beloved members of the community. They put their paws on the line every single day to keep us safe.
