This Sunday, Catholic Charities Team Samaritan will set out on Ride Across America! 🚴‍♂️ Our 12 Team Samaritan riders will begin their nearly 3,000-mile journey from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, with a goal of raising $2 million and awareness for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Funds raised will support Catholic Charities Samaritan House in Colorado and organizations serving neighbors experiencing homelessness in communities along the route. Joining the team for part of the journey is Paul Mulligan, CEO of Charities Community Services in the Diocese of Phoenix. Paul will ride alongside Team Samaritan as they make their way through Arizona, helping raise funds, build awareness and carry the mission forward one mile at a time. Bringing learning to life! 💛 Catholic Charities Respect Life Office and Marisol Health Mobile recently visited St. Mary’s Catholic School for a hands-on educational experience with more than 140 students in grades 5–8. Students stepped aboard the Marisol Health Mobile unit to learn about prenatal development. Several classes also had the unique opportunity to observe a live second-trimester ultrasound, giving students a firsthand look at a growing baby and different stages of prenatal development. The learning continued outside the mobile unit as students created colorful messages and artwork along the school grounds inspired by what they learned throughout the day. Marisol Health Mobile brings healthcare, education and resources directly to underserved communities throughout Denver and Aurora, helping make services more accessible to women and families. Our Respect Life Office also provides educational opportunities for youth and adults throughout Northern Colorado on topics related to human life from conception to natural death. One mission, many miles and a community coming together to serve our neighbors. 💙 With Catholic Charities Team Samaritan’s Ride Across America beginning THIS Sunday, October 4, Team Samaritan recently visited Hope’s Provision Food Bank, a Southeast Denver community food bank that provides groceries, personal care items, clothing and baby essentials to families in need. The visit was another reminder of the power of neighbors helping neighbors. As Team Samaritan prepares to pedal nearly 3,000 miles across the country in 45 days, their mission is about much more than the miles. The team is riding to raise awareness and critical funds to support Catholic Charities Samaritan Houseand neighbors experiencing homelessness in communities along the route. With a goal of raising $2 million, every mile is an opportunity to bring people together and help provide hope, dignity and support to those working toward stability. The countdown is on! 🚴‍♂️ In just 9 days, Catholic Charities Team Samaritan will begin Ride Across America! Last weekend, members of the team hit the South Platte River Trail in Colorado for another practice ride as they prepare for the nearly 3,000-mile journey ahead. We’re also grateful to have Cycle of Life Adventures (COLA) supporting Team Samaritan as a sponsor along the journey. COLA is a boutique-style bicycle and active vacation company focused on creating personalized cycling adventures for small groups and we’re excited to have their support as the team takes on this coast-to-coast ride. Beginning October 4, 12 Team Samaritan cyclists will ride from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, raising awareness and critical funds to support Catholic Charities Samaritan House and our neighbors experiencing homelessness in communities along the route. For the Ledezma family, giving back is deeply personal. 💙 After losing Liberty Ledezma to domestic violence in 2010, her family turned unimaginable loss into a commitment to helping others. Led by Liberty’s mother, Peggy, the family established Celebrating the Life of Liberty Ledezma , a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and supporting domestic violence prevention and education. That mission eventually connected the family with Catholic Charities Centro San Juan Diego’s Created for Love program, which focuses on domestic violence prevention, education and connecting people with local resources. For the past five years, the Ledezma family has supported the program through funds raised at their annual golf tournament. This year, they raised an incredible $50,000 for Centro San Juan Diego. Today, Liberty’s sister, Natalia and their family continue the work Peggy began, honoring both Liberty and Peggy while making a difference for families throughout our Colorado community. We are incredibly grateful to the Ledezma family for their continued generosity, partnership and commitment to this important work. Sometimes, making a difference starts with recognizing a simple need. 🚲 Participants at Catholic Charities Samaritan House Smith Road now have a safe and convenient place to park and lock their bikes thanks to a generous donation from Pedal bike shop in Littleton, Co. Owner Maura Saunders donated a bike rack to Samaritan House to support the women staying there. Maura recently stopped by to see the rack in its new home and tour Samaritan House, learning more about the services and support available to women experiencing homelessness. For participants who rely on their bikes for transportation, having a secure place to keep them can make a meaningful difference in their day-to-day lives. Thank you, Maura and Pedal, for recognizing a need and stepping up to support our neighbors! 💙 Every year, Catholic Charities Samaritan House locations in Denver provide more than 225,000 nights of shelter and 515,000 meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness.

What a totally rad way to celebrate 40 years! 🎸 Friends and supporters of Catholic Charities came together for Sam’s Totally Rad Supper, celebrating four decades of Catholic Charities Samaritan House serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Since opening its doors in Denver in 1986, Samaritan House has grown from one shelter to five locations across Colorado, providing safe shelter, meals and compassionate support to women, families, veterans and individuals. One of the most meaningful moments of the night came from Rhonda Merrick, a singer-songwriter and former Samaritan House Fort Collins participant. Rhonda returned with her band, Roots La Roux and performed “Catholic Charities Bed,” a song she wrote during a time when she was experiencing homelessness and staying at Samaritan House. The evening also honored Theo Schwartz, founder and executive director of Big Heart Art, with the 2026 Courteney Saeman Award and the Capuchin Franciscans, Province of Saint Conrad, with the 2026 He Comes to Serve Award for their commitment to serving our neighbors. For 40 years, Samaritan House has been supported by countless staff, volunteers, donors, parishes, partners and friends who believe in treating every person with dignity and compassion. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special celebration and to everyone who continues to make this work possible. A big transformation with dignity, privacy and comfort at the heart of it. 💙 The Catholic Charities Samaritan Houseteam recently completed a major project to transform sleeping spaces for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. New partitions between beds now provide semi-private spaces, while a redesigned floor plan doubled the amount of personal space for participants while maintaining the same number of beds. This transformation took a full day of hard work from our shelter team. Starting at 6:30 a.m., staff carefully packed and stored participants’ belongings in another area of the shelter, removed the previous setup, power-washed the floors, cleaned mattresses and installed the new floor plan and partitions. A special thank you to our incredible team who made this project possible — from securing the resources and coordinating with volunteers to rolling up their sleeves and doing the work themselves. It was truly a team effort from start to finish. Every person who walks through our doors deserves a space where they can feel safe, comfortable and respected. Across the Front Range, Catholic Charities Samaritan House provides more than 277,000 nights of shelter every year, making spaces like these an important part of how we welcome and care for our neighbors. Thank you to everyone who went above and beyond to create a more private, comfortable and dignified space for the neighbors we serve. 💙

The miles are adding up! 🚴‍♂️ Every weekend, Catholic Charities Team Samaritan is hitting the road for long training rides as they prepare for an even bigger challenge: Ride Across America. Beginning October 4, 12 cyclists will set out from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, taking on nearly 3,000 miles and 79,000 vertical feet of climbing over 45 days. But this ride is about much more than the miles. Team Samaritan is riding to raise awareness and critical funds for Catholic Charities Samaritan House and our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Along the way, the team will support Samaritan House’s five Colorado locations and shelters in communities across the country, bringing attention to the work being done to help individuals and families move from homelessness toward stability. With the start line getting closer, every weekend ride is another opportunity to prepare for the journey ahead. Volunteers from Xcel Energy recently rolled up their sleeves at Catholic Charities Samaritan House Smith Road, one of our women’s shelters in Denver, to build new partitions that will be placed between beds to create more privacy and personal space for participants staying with us. The Xcel Energy team joined us as part of the company’s annual Day of Service, bringing their time, skills and teamwork to help turn this project into a reality. The materials for the partitions were made possible through a generous donation from Leprino Foods, a longtime supporter of the Catholic Charities mission. Samaritan House Smith Road is one of five Catholic Charities Samaritan House locations across Colorado. This year, as we celebrate 40 years of Samaritan House, projects like this are a reminder that we could not serve our neighbors without the donors, volunteers, community partners and dedicated teams who continue to show up and make this work possible. We’re incredibly grateful to Xcel Energy and Leprino Foods for being part of that mission and supporting our neighbors experiencing homelessness. The building is done — now it’s time to put them to use! 👀 Stay tuned to see the partitions installed at Samaritan House and the difference they make in the space.
