Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) invites you to this Colorado Day! Join VOC on Mt. Democrat to help care for our high peaks and fragile alpine ecosystems.

Did you know it takes about 1,000 years for just one inch of alpine soil to develop? That makes sustainable trail maintenance essential for curbing erosion and protecting these landscapes for generations to come.

You'll work with VOC partners, Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI), to install timber checks, delineate trails, and perform other maintenance tasks.

The Find Your Own 14er campaign encourages Coloradans to explore the outdoor spaces and experiences that inspire their love for our state. This project is just one of many ways to take on your own outdoor challenge.

Following our lowest snowpack on record and persistent warm temperatures, a statewide Drought Emergency has been declared across our State.

Low streamflows, reduced reservoir levels, and increased wildfire risks directly affect our local outfitters, agricultural partners, recreation businesses, and wildlife habitats.

To help Coloradans navigate these dry conditions, the Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has brought together real-time monitoring tools, water supply updates, and drought management guidance in one central place: https://dnr.colorado.gov/divisions/water-conservation/colorado-drought-resources-at-dnr

Learn more about how you can recreate responsibly this summer and take actions to protect lands, local businesses, and communities.🙌

Summit 2026 is almost here! In less than two weeks, we're sending teams up (most) of Colorado's 14ers to commemorate this year's historic Colorado Day!

Later in the day, everyone is welcome to join us at CMC Basecamp in Golden for the Alpine After Party. Hear stories from people who summited earlier; enter to win giveaways; enjoy snacks, drinks, and activities; and more! Free to attend. RSVP here: www.cmc.org/events/alpine-after-party

Big thanks to our partners America 250 - Colorado 150 Commemoration and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office and our sponsor The VF Foundation for making this incredible initiative possible.

Commemorate Colorado’s 150th and America’s 250th anniversaries with The 14er Climb: Summit 2026! Taking place on Colorado Day, August 1, 2026, this signature initiative of the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission and in partnership with OEDIT’s Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, is inspired by Colorado’s iconic peaks and outdoor legacy, inviting Coloradans to celebrate the mountains, landscapes, and outdoor experiences that shape our state — whether by joining a climbing team or finding their own 14er adventure.

Experienced team leaders have been identified for each peak, with public spots available through a lottery system to ensure a fair and accessible process for interested climbers. Participants will be matched with teams based on skill level, experience, and peak requirements to support a meaningful experience centered on responsible recreation and managed risk.

The deadline to register for an official climbing team is July 17. Not climbing? Explore Find Your Own 14er for ideas to celebrate Colorado Day in a way that's right for you.👇
