‼️ Summit Elementary will be closed today, May 20, due to a power outage impacting the school. All other District schools and bus routes will run on a normal 2-hour delayed schedule.

WPSD will be on a 2-hour delay today May 20, due to overnight snow accumulation. No AM Preschool. Jr./Sr. High School students will receive an advisory assignment to complete during the 2-hour delay. Columbine and Summit students should complete the 2-hour delay Google Form that the principals will send.

It's a busy Thursday! Join us tonight from 5 PM till 7 PM for a night of Science, Singing, and a Silent Auction!

Our 5th Graders have been working hard on their science projects and are excited to show off their findings! After that, you can enjoy the school-wide music program starting at 6 PM tonight in the Gym. Alongside these activities we're also hosting a Silent Auction to support our DI teams to help fund their trip to Globals!

We hope to see you there and cheer on our Soaring Summit Eagles!

All after-school activities are canceled today, May 5, due to the ongoing Winter Weather Warning and low evening temperatures, making for unsafe travel conditions. A rescheduled date for the Jr./Sr. High School Band Concert will be communicated shortly.

Another amazing Read-a-Thon in the books! Over the course of our Read-a-Thon our students read for a total of 116,806 minutes! Those are some dedicated readers! Our top readers were rewarded with trading places with our principal Mrs. Rexford for part of the day on Wednesday.

🌍✨ BIG news for Destination Imagination!✨🌍

Congratulations to our incredible Jr. High and Summit Elementary Destination Imagination (DI) teams for their performance at the state competition on April 11th! Their hard work and creativity earned 4 out of our 5 teams a chance to represent the state of Colorado and Woodland Park at the Global Finals in Kansas City, MO, May 21–25, 2026—where they’ll connect with and compete against students from around the world! 🌎

Destination Imagination (DI) is more than a competition—it’s an innovative program that brings STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to life. Through collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, students tackle open-ended challenges and develop real-world problem-solving skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom.

The four teams that placed at the state competition and are now heading to the Global Finals are composed of both Summit Elementary and Jr. High School students:

• The DI Doodlers (Fine Arts – 🥇 1st Place)
• The Perfect Pair (Improvisation – 🥇 1st Place)
• Dexterous Unique Magical Brainiacs (Science – 🥈 2nd Place)
• DI Storm Strikers (Fine Arts – 🥉 3rd Place)
