About the art:
Caribbean Colors of Colombia: Cartagena
Cartagena is a place of vibrant energy and atmosphere. The Old Town is filled with vendors, street dancers, wedding processions, and quinceañera celebrations. The arts district overflows with galleries, artisans, and women dressed in traditional attire, waiting to be photographed. Vendors push carts brimming with exotic fruits and local sweets, while street performers, musicians, and dancers bring the streets to life. Poetry adorns the walls, and magnificent colonial architecture frames it all. Together, these elements create a space of joy, movement, and color.
Beyond the city, a collection of paradisiacal islands offers clear waters and a rich diversity of marine life—an escape from the heat and an invitation to experience the sea.
These images seek to capture the light, color, and spirit of this extraordinary place.
About the artist:
I was born in Argentina but spent most of my life in NY. In my former career as a chemistry teacher, I used to travel during the summer months, always with my camera in hand to try to document as much as possible of my journeys.
Taking photos and traveling has always been my passion. After retiring, I was able to travel more often and take several photography classes at Nassau Community College.
I belong to Park West Camera Club in Manhattan, the Long Island Center for Photography as well as West Ends Arts Visual Artist Guild and the Long Beach Art League.
I consider myself an adventurer, constantly seeking out new destinations to explore both near and far. Whether it’s a day trip to a nearby town in Long Island, Manhattan, upstate NY, Connecticut, or an international journey, I am always eager to discover something special about a location.
I strive to capture the essence of the places I visit, by documenting the people, the architecture, and the landscape with my camera.
Photography has opened my eyes to a mesmerizing world of light, color, textures, and shapes. I am simply amazed by the beauty that surrounds us and I try my best to capture it through my lens and share it.
