Onset Fire Rescue Onset Fire Department "The Desire to Serve, The Courage to Act, The Ability to Perform" Onset is a census-designated place in the town of Wareham.

The Onset Fire Department is located at 41°44′47″N 70°39′48″W in Southeast Massachusetts approximately 60 miles south of Boston. We have a population of 1,573 residents living in an area of 1.30 sq miles. We operate out of two stations. Our Department has 6 full time firefighters and 54 call firefighters

Congratulations to this fantastic group of young men and women who graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy today. For the past 3 years, they earned their Fire Fighter 1 and 2 certification, along with other certifications, all while attending college and maintaining a high GPA in order to be a part of the Firefighter program with Onset FD. Some will be staying on with us as Call Firefighters, while others will be moving on to careers in the fire service at other departments and other 1st Responder agencies. THANK YOU all for your time and sacrifice to OFD and our community. It has been a pleasure working with you! Best of luck to all of you!!!

The Onset Fire Department extends their deepest condolences to the family of the Boston Firefighter, Bobby Kilduff, who lost his life tonight in the Line of Duty at a building fire. Our thoughts and prayers are also with our brothers and sisters at the Boston Fire Department.

🚧🚧PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT🚧🚧
The beaches in Onset are currently closed to all bathing and shellfishing per order of the Board of Health. OFD received a report of a leak by the Stone Bridge this morning and found the sewerage pipe had failed by the vent pipe. The Wareham Sewer Department responded immediate and repairs began, including pumping out the nearby pumping station. We will provide an update as one is provided to us.
