- Wednesday through Sunday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Last ticket sold at 3 p.m.
- The Zoo will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

🎂 Happy 26th Birthday to the El Paso Zoo’s Malayan tapir, Bailey! Bailey arrived at the El Paso Zoo in 2003 from Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska.
Her wonderful zookeepers are celebrating her birthday with a Halloween themed Birthday, with colorful presents and smashed banana tamales at 10:30 in her habitat space across from the Orangutans.
❤️ Bailey has a distinct tear on the tip of one of her ears!

- The average lifespan for Malayan Tapirs is 25 to 30 years.
- The only Tapir species found in Asia, they are known as the gardeners of the rainforest, because of how well they distribute seeds along their path.
- They are considered endangered with an estimated 2,500 left in the wild.

It’s National Veterinary Technician Week.

Join us in celebrating the incredible team members who make a difference in animal care every single day!

So much of what Erin, Leslie, Melissa, and Sarah do happens behind the scenes, but their impact is felt throughout the Zoo and, most importantly, in the lives of the animals they care for.

This work comes with its challenges, but their patience, kindness, and commitment never go unnoticed.

The Zoo’s Medical Center Secretary Gisselle nestles up with a penguin.

She shares her thoughts, “I see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes… The Vet Techs are truly the heart and soul of our team…they work so well together, support one another through the difficult days, and somehow still manage to bring kindness, humor, and laughter into the workplace.”

Explore the extraordinary world of reptiles!

This Saturday, Oct 24, beginning at 10:30am the El Paso Zoo will be celebrating National Reptile Awareness Day.

Learn about reptile conservation, habitat protection, and how you can help when you happen to come across one of these fascinating reptiles.

Guests will view the reptiles up close and personal.

Reptiles help balance ecosystems by controlling rodent and insect populations, dispersing seeds, and maintaining the balance of wetlands, forests, and deserts.
