Our friends and Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area partners at West Virginia Nature Conservancy do important conservation work at Bear Rocks Preserve! 🐻🪨 If you haven’t checked out the area and hiked the .75 mile loop trail, there’s still time before winter really sets in.

🥾 Plus, this trail counts as 1 of 5 in our AFNHA Hiking Challenge—complete 5 in our region to become eligible for our free embroidered hiking challenge patch!

You can get your America's National Parks Passport Book stamped at partner sites across our Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area? With the launch of our Discovery Sites Program, and affiliation with the National Park Service and Alliance of National Heritage Areas, we have unique cancellation stamps to add to your collection!

Beverly Heritage Center and Woodchopping and Timber Heritage Museum are just two of the sites to explore!

⏰We’re in our last couple weeks of Thursday-Sunday hours before switching to our winter/off season hours. So, be sure to stop by and see us!

We have an amazing collection of loaned artifacts as part of our “America at 250 in the Appalachian Forest” exhibit. The Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area Discovery Center is open 9:30-4:30, Th-Sun.

📝Treasure is highlighting a set of letters from The Golden Rule Museum. The AmeriCorps there, Robyn, even graciously went the extra mile and transcribed the older letters into an easier to read print format.
