🌱 Feature Spotlight: East Bayfront Greenway Trail 🌱
I’m excited to share that the East Bayfront Greenway Trail project is being spotlighted on the Center for Community Progress blog, a wonderful recognition of the transformative potential this initiative holds for our community.
This project, a collaboration between the Land Bank, Redevelopment Authority, the City of Erie, and Groundwork Erie envisions a network of pocket parks and trails woven through the Lower Eastside neighborhood.
Phase 1 is currently under development, bringing new green space, improved connectivity, and opportunity for place-based revitalization.
What makes this project particularly inspiring is its commitment to community voices first. Through visioning workshops and stakeholder engagement, neighbors are helping co-design the path, public spaces, and priorities for what these new green corridors should mean to them.
As the project unfolds, I’m hopeful for how it will:
Reclaim neglected parcels and turn blight into beauty
Enhance walkability, safety, and access to nature within the city
Strengthen social fabric through shared public spaces
Serve as a model for how cities can integrate equity, design, and environmental justice
If you’re interested in seeing how a local urban greenway comes to life from planning through construction, I invite you to check out the blog feature and follow along. I’m proud to see this kind of work getting visibility, and even more proud to be part of the momentum pushing it forward.
