🐾🐶 Happy National Dog Day! 🐶🐾

Today, Estero Fire Rescue is celebrating some of our favorite four-legged family members! ❤️🚒🐕

We’re excited to share photos of the dogs belonging to our EFR employees. From loyal companions to playful pups, these furry friends hold a special place in our hearts!

As we celebrate our four-legged family members, don’t forget to include your pets in your family's emergency plans. Make sure you have a plan for where your pets will go during an emergency and keep their leashes, carriers, food, and medications easily accessible.

Fire and Life Safety Tip: Place a pet rescue window decal near your front door or windows to alert first responders that pets may be inside your home.

After nearly a year of planning, training, and preparation, Estero Fire Rescue is proud to officially launch our Whole Blood Program!

This program gives our firefighter/paramedics the ability to administer whole blood in the field to patients experiencing severe life-threatening blood loss. In these critical types of calls, every minute matters, and having blood available before the patient reaches the hospital adds another lifesaving tool to the care we can provide to our patients.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this program a reality, and especially to our crews for the time and effort they have put into preparing for this launch.
We are excited to bring this additional level of care to the residents and visitors of Estero as we continue working to provide the best possible care to those we serve.

TAKE THE HEAT SERIOUSLY !

Southwest Florida heat can become dangerous quickly. During a heat advisory, take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you.

💧 Hydrate often — don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
🌡️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
👵 Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.
🐾 Protect your pets and remember that pavement can become dangerously hot.
🚗 NEVER leave children, pets, or vulnerable individuals in a parked vehicle.

⚠️ Know the warning signs: Heavy sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea, weakness, confusion, or fainting can be signs of heat-related illness.

If someone is experiencing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately, move them to a cooler location, and begin cooling them while waiting for help.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Look out for one another.

This week Estero Firefighters had the opportunity to train at another building ready for demolition. Crews got a chance to work on metal covered pitched roofs, force hurricane windows and cut roll up doors. There is nothing like allowing crews to work on actual buildings. They get to test theory and what really works.

Thank you to Old Corkscrew for allowing us to use your clubhouse! If you've got a building that is ready for demolition and would be willing to allow us to come out and train on it, please reach out!

We are incredibly proud of our Estero Fire Rescue Cadets for representing our department at the Summer Gator Fire Games!

The Summer Gator Fire Games provide young men and women interested in the fire service with the opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership, and firefighting skills through friendly competition. Participants take part in realistic fire service challenges that emphasize communication, problem-solving, and physical fitness while building lasting friendships with cadets from across the state.

Our cadets demonstrated outstanding dedication, sportsmanship, and perseverance throughout the competition. Their commitment to learning and growing as future firefighters reflects the values of Estero Fire Rescue, and we couldn't be more proud of their hard work and accomplishments.

Thank you to the advisors, instructors, families, and supporters who encourage and mentor these future members of the fire service. Your guidance helps make opportunities like this possible.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this.

If you drove by the old Perkins building this weekend, you probably noticed Estero Fire crews on the roof. Before the building comes down next week to make way for Chick-fil-A, we were able to put it to good use.

Training in a real building is something you just can’t fully replicate. Crews practiced cutting on real roofs, improved their saw skills, learned more about building construction, and worked through large-area search scenarios. We are always thankful for opportunities like this. If you've got a building that you'd be interested in having us train in please let us know!
