On 22 July 2026 at approximately 2338, a probable cause traffic stop was conducted near S. Eufaula Ave and Boundary St. The driver was identified as, Rebecca Lynn FRANCO, 27 of Panama City Beach.

Further investigation during the stop led to the following charges:

DUI (32-5A-191(a)(4))
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (13A-12-212) X2
Possession of Ma*****na 2nd (13A-12-214)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (13A-12-260)

Among the items seized were 1.7lbs of “Shrooms”

The 9th annual "Operation Southern Slow Down" is running from July 13 to July 19 across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee. State and local law enforcement agencies are conducting a high-visibility enforcement blitz focusing on excessive speeding, aggressive driving, and other traffic violations on major highways and interstates. The multi-state initiative is coordinated in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to reduce speed-related crashes and fatalities during the busy summer travel season. Last year's campaign resulted in over 52,000 speeding citations and warnings issued across the participating states. Operation Southern Slow Down is an annual, week-long traffic safety and law enforcement campaign across five Southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The initiative is designed to reduce speed-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities during the busy summer travel season through highly visible patrols, strict speed enforcement, and public education. During this week, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies significantly increase their presence on major interstates and state highways. Officers actively target speeding, reckless driving, and other violations. In previous years, the operation has resulted in tens of thousands of citations and warnings, as well as hundreds of DUI arrests.

On 1 July 2026, Lonnie Britt PATRICK, 37, of Eufaula entered WalMart at approximately 5:15 p.m.. PATRICK then proceeded to open bear spray from the shelves and spray several areas of the store. Several individuals were effected with the spray.

PATRICK was arrested on 2 July 2026 and charged with:

Reckless Endangerment (13A-8-5)
Theft of Property 4th X2 (13A-6-24)

Warrants were also signed today from an incident involving PATRICK in April for:

Retail Theft 3rd X2 (13A-8-225)

More charges are pending.

As we approach the 250th for our great country, we would like you all to enjoy the July 4th celebration. Fireworks are scheduled to be at Lakepoint on July 3rd.

With that in mind, please be aware that fireworks inside the city limits are prohibited by City Ordinance. If caught, fireworks will be confiscated and a citation issued. We realize we all want to celebrate and have a good time, but we must be mindful to our neighbors and other residents around us.

If you call to report fireworks, please be patient, we will respond. We will have several Officers working that night to ensure the city stays safe.
