Nick was working a stressful job and thought he was holding it together, until he relapsed.
"I was a functioning addict and I always had a safety net," Nick shared. "This last time, there was nobody."
Nick had nowhere to go and no one to call.
"I found out rock bottom has a basement. I was facing homelessness and it was a big wake-up call," he said. "All my friends were like, 'we want to help you but we can't.'"
Nick turned to the Eugene Mission and entered the R3 Program, where he says he's been rebuilding the pieces of his life.
"I fail with loose accountability — I knew how to play the system," he said. "Here, I've created a schedule and stick to it and the level of accountability is what I needed."
Nick is also building up his community by attending church, where he says he was recently baptized, and he found a job where he was promoted after just a few weeks.
"I've changed my mindset to one of gratitude," Nick said. "I'm just so grateful to be here and have access to these blessings."
