This past weekend, several members of our team participated in the Mosquito Meader 5k benefiting RCPC, another incredible organization dedicated to supporting and protecting children in our community. 🦟🎽

After a particularly heavy week that reminded us all why child advocacy matters so deeply, this event was healing for many of our staff.

While we may have finished the course at different times, we came back together to walk across the finish line side by side. A simple reminder of something we believe deeply: no child should have to walk that journey alone.

We're grateful to Resource Center for Parents and Children for the vital role they play in helping children and families, and for creating an event that brought so many in our community together in support of a shared mission.

AND shoutout to our staff member Bill for taking third place with an impressive time of 18 minutes. It so happens to be his birthday today as well 😊 🏃‍♂️

Earlier this month we were able to present a donation check to The Door youth shelter.
This was a portion of our Thursday sales for the month of April. Thank you to all who helped contribute!!

Do you know about The Door and the services they provide to the community? The advocates there really do amazing work, and are truly unsung heroes!

This is a youth emergency shelter and support program in downtown Fairbanks. It provides a safe place for youth who are homeless, have run away, are experiencing family conflict, or need temporary shelter and support. The shelter operates 24 hours a day and works with young people to help stabilize their situation, reconnect with family when appropriate, and access services such as counseling, education, and case management.
They provide meals, routines, clothes, and so much
more.

Beyond all of that’s listed above, the staff really does go above and beyond for these children and teens. They give them structure and safety when home isn’t a safe place to be.

Being a foster parent in the past, I have personally witnessed the incredible work these folks provide to such a vulnerable and at risk part of our community.

Special thank you to Sam – owner of 907 Stump Grinding LLC - for jumping in as both a volunteer and friend. Yesterday, Sam gave his time and equipment by helping us cut up wood and grind out the stumps on our property. 💪

These efforts are transforming our outdoor space into something even more meaningful for the kiddos and stocking our wood pile for bonfires throughout the summer. The kids had an absolute blast helping with the project and learning practical skills.🔥 🍃

‼️But even more than that, Sam is donating a one-hour professional stump grinding service valued at $250 with proceeds benefiting our youth. So here is your chance to participate!!

Oh, dear sweet Risse Green house…how you have our heart.🤍🌱
We are incredibly thankful to Risse Greenhouse for their generous donation of vegetable plants and flowers for this year’s shelter garden!
Our youth had such a wonderful time visiting the greenhouse and experiencing everything firsthand. Your kindness has given them the opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy planting and harvesting all summer long.
Thank you for investing in our kids and helping create hands on experiences they’ll remember for a long time. We truly appreciate your continuous support!

This week and last, we sat in graduation ceremonies cheering for kids who have fought battles most never saw.

Some crossed that stage carrying years of loss, instability, fear, rejection, loneliness, and exhaustion. Some studied while worrying about where they would sleep. Some showed up to class after nights filled with uncertainty. Some almost gave up more times than anyone knows.

But tonight, they walked across that stage anyway.

Not because the road was easy. Not because they had every advantage. But because they kept going — one hard day at a time.

To every youth we serve: your diploma is more than a piece of paper. It is proof that your story is still being written. Proof that difficult chapters do not define your ending.

We could not be more proud of you.

The world saw graduates tonight.
We saw survivors, fighters, leaders, and incredible kids stepping into their future.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. You earned every single step across that stage. Thank YOU for making it possible 🤍
