⛳️ Big Swings. Bigger Impact.🏌️
A HUGE thank you again to the Interior Alaska Building Association for choosing to support The Door through this year’s golf tournament!
Thanks to an incredible day on the course, more than $3,000 was raised to directly support programs for our kiddos! 🎉
These funds will help us provide shelter and safety, build life skills, and opportunities for healing.
We are so grateful to the Interior Alaska Builders Association, the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who made this tournament a success! Thank you for building brighter futures ❤️ 🏠✨

Something new is starting…
Sometimes, a young person doesn’t need someone to “fix” things.

Sometimes they just need someone to listen.
Someone to understand.
A place where they don’t have to pretend everything is okay.
A place where they can take a breath and simply be themselves.

That’s the heart behind The Reset.

We’re creating a space for youth ages 13–18 to come together, build genuine connections, talk about the things they’re facing, and learn tools to help them navigate life with greater confidence and resilience.

Because the things young people experience today can leave lasting impacts. Stress, anxiety, loneliness, relationships, mental health, and substance use are real challenges and having support early can make a difference.

The Reset isn’t about judgment.
It isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about connection, understanding, growth, and knowing you don’t have to do it alone.

With The Reset, we’re creating a space where youth can:

Find support from their peers
Talk openly about mental wellness & substance use
Learn healthy ways to cope with stress
Express themselves creatively
Build stronger relationships
Discover their strengths
Set goals for their future
Create a community where they feel valued

Every young person deserves a place where they feel like they belong.

If you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, or someone who simply cares about the young people in our community, help us spread the word. And if you’re a young person who could use a space like this, or know someone who could, The Reset is for you.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You just have to be brave enough to begin again.

Welcome to The Reset. 💚

FYA is incredibly proud to be a partner agency of United Way of the Tanana Valley and to stand alongside the organizations, businesses, and individuals working every day to make our community united!

The 2026 Campaign is about more than reaching a fundraising goal. It’s about building the foundation for the next 70+ years of impact and they’re looking for 700 Champions to help make it happen.

We see firsthand what that partnership makes possible, and we are so grateful to be part of it. Now it’s your turn. Become one of the 700 Champions. 💙

Happy 1st Birthday to EVOLVE.🎂🎉

This logo is more than a program. It tells the story of where we started, how far we’ve come, and where we are still going.
FYA began after recognizing a critical gap for young adults ages 18–24. That vision was brought before the City Council, and from it, The Door was born, creating a shelter of safety and hope for teens ages 12-18 who had nowhere else to turn.
Twelve years later, we expanded again, opening our doors to youth ages 6-18 who needed that same safety and support.
And now, fourteen years later, we have come full circle, back to the 18–24-year-olds who inspired the vision in the first place.
In July, we celebrated one year of the Evolve Program.
Evolve began as a dream. A year ago, we knew it was needed, but we didn't know exactly what course it would take or where to start. We gave it room to grow, listened, and watched as it found its own identity.
It became essential. Essential to the one who had nowhere to go when they turned 18, because they were an adult and were told to figure it out. Essential to the one who had everything else figured out, they just couldn’t find transportation to work. Essential to the one who didn’t know how to build a resume and apply for jobs. Essential because it's working to fill a gap that not many talk about, the 18-24 year olds who are expected to have it figured out, to sustain themselves with little knowledge and no support.
The new program logo blends pieces of our founding logo with our current logo, representing how we’ve Evolved through the years. It honors our past while making space for our future. It represents the vision that started it, the heart that sustained it, the resilience that strengthened it, and the passion that refuses to accept the impossible. Most importantly, it reflects the journey our youth take as they EVOLVE into young adults.
Our mission has grown. But the heart behind it has never changed. Fourteen years later, we're not simply returning to where we started, we’re creating space for hope to have an address.

We had so much fun at the 555K, raising awareness for the Winter Warming Shelter and homelessness in our community. Rain or shine, we’re always ready to run to the rescue alongside incredible local agencies and community members who share the same heart for making a difference! 🏃‍♀️🏃❄️

When our community shows up together, hope shows up too. 🩵

Two days ago, she called. Late in the evening. She was alone, lost, and defeated.
Seldom support and no family in Fairbanks.
She called us as her last shot in the dark, hoping to find anything that would provide her the support she would need to get through even just one more day.

We knew there was a purpose for Evolve, we knew the statistics, and the resources lacking for that age group.

But what data and statistics can’t show you are the emotions, vulnerability, and hope provided in just one moment. So we took a chance.

Today she walked through the door as an initial first step. We felt the fear and uncertainty in the way her voice broke while trying to explain how she ended up here.

She was brave enough to sit with strangers and tell them how life started to lose color for her.

An hour later we walked with her to our transitional housing unit and showed her that there was a spot open. She stood in the middle of what is to be her new room as the tears of relief streamed silently and subtly and the weight lifted off her shoulders. She didn’t have to worry where she would sleep tonight or how to get to work.

That is hope. And that’s one more person who can feel a purpose for tomorrow, and the next day.
After today, she’s not just walking into a program, she’s walking into her new room and her future.
We opened the door for someone new. Sometimes that’s all it takes to change an entire life.

Today we gave hope an address.

For anyone willing to support this new move, a list of needs are provided below as well as an Amazon wishlist for visuals! We will add as we learn further the needs she may have!

**UPDATE***
The need has been met! Thank you to our community.🥹💪🏼

Hey, Fairbanks Fam.

We’re desperately trying to get one of our kiddos into football, but it’s been one road block after another.
Unfortunately, these things don’t come easy to a kiddo in his position, but we are not giving up.

Would anyone happen to have a size 13 pair of football cleats? We’ve ordered some and they are on the way, we just need a pair for the time being!

As always, thank you!❤️

Good morning, Fairbanks!

As we begin the trek back to school, we are bringing back our special request list.
We commonly come into contact with youth from situations where it isn’t feasible to purchase new clothes when needed or even during the beginning of a new school year.

We’re all too familiar with going into a new school year and the pressure that adds to your daily life, as the trends are ever changing, their bodies are growing, and they’re unsure of how to manage school on top of their difficult and unstable situation.

We want our youth to have one thing that provides them with comfort and peace this school year- brand new clothes that they picked for themselves.
This year we are asking for gift cards to the stores listed below to provide our kids with the opportunity to walk confidently during an unsure time.

*gift cards are not limited to the selection below, anywhere is appreciated*

Thank you, Fairbanks! We are excited for year 2 of this opportunity for our youth!
