Resource Center for Parents and Children

Resource Center for Parents and Children Because kids don't come with instructions! Over the years our programs and services have varied; however, all have focused on the same mission.

The Resource Center Parents and Children (RCPC) has grown in size, strength, and commitment since 1973, when it was started by a small group of concerned Fairbanks citizens who met as the Fairbanks Child Protection Task Force (FCPTF) to discuss the problems of child abuse and neglect in the Fairbanks community. The prevention of child abuse and neglect begins with strengthening the family structur

e, helping parents with parenting skills, and providing a safe place for parents to share and deal with parenting issues. The Resource Center for Parents and Children has been successful due to quality staff, programs and countless volunteers and social service agency partners. To all that have shared in our agency's history, thank you.

RCPC honored Kailey Banaszewski with a plaque to commemorate her Eagle Scout Service Project where she gathered a trailer full of donations for RCPC clients which included diapers, wipes, formula, monetary donations, and more. It was an honor to get to know Kailey during this process and we know she is destined to do big things. We canโ€™t thank her enough!๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Edit: This is an informational post about passed legislation. This change was part of the crime bill HB 239 that passed and was signed into law in the spring of 2026.

Please help us spread the word. On July 1, 2026 the age of consent law for sexual activity changed in Alaska. Check out the infographic below for more details. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Stevie's Place at (907) 374-2850.

We are honored and excited to share that RCPC has been awarded an Alaska Children's Trust Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Grant! ๐Ÿ’™

Through this funding, RCPC will expand child sexual abuse prevention education and outreach across Interior Alaska and the North Slope, bringing evidence-informed training, community outreach, and awareness events to both hub communities and rural villages.

We are already working with several Interior communities to arrange upcoming village visits, and weโ€™re excited to build new partnerships throughout our service area.

If your community or organization in Interior Alaska or the North Slope would like RCPC to come to your community for prevention training or outreach related to child sexual abuse, please reach out to us! We would love to connect and explore how we can support your community.

โ€œIt takes a village,โ€ the saying goes, but we never stop needing our village. ๐Ÿ’œ Let this be your reminder to be the person who checks in, listens without judgment, and shows up for the people around you.

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 anytime, 24/7.

๐Ÿ’™ Today marks the beginning of Su***de Prevention Month, observed throughout September.

This month, IACNVL is uplifting the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline as a resource for su***de prevention and emotional support.

Prevention starts with connection. Check in on your loved ones. Ask how theyโ€™re really doing. Listen without judgment. Sometimes, having a healthy but hard conversation with someone who is struggling can make all the difference.

You donโ€™t need the perfect words or all the answers. Being present, listening, and helping someone connect with support can be a powerful first step.

๐Ÿ“ž Call or text 988
๐Ÿ’ฌ Chat with the 988 Lifeline 24/7

988 is available for anyone who is going through a difficult time, needs someone to talk to, or is thinking about su***de. Their goal is to help people reduce stress, feel supported, and feel empowered to make healthy decisions.

This September, letโ€™s check in, start the conversation, and remind the people around us that they are not alone. ๐Ÿ’™
