Fairbanks Rescue Mission A temporary emergency shelter dedicated to providing safe shelter, food and clothing to those in need. Our mission is long term transformation and stability.

The Fairbanks Rescue Mission serves men, women, and children from the Fairbanks North Star Borough community and the outlying rural areas. The Mission operates the only overnight men's and women's emergency shelter in Interior Alaska. Emergency services includes three hot meals, a bed each night, clothing, and a safe environment. Enterprise had our first Soft Skills meeting of the season today. Participants spent time discussing workplace communication, professionalism, and expectations on the job site—skills that are just as important as learning the job itself.

We have a great group of guys this year.

For those unfamiliar with the program, the Enterprise Program is a vocational rehabilitation and job training initiative operated by the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. Our goal is to help individuals experiencing homelessness re-enter the workforce and build a foundation for long-term stability.

Participants receive hands-on job training, individualized case management, and spiritual guidance while gaining real-world work experience. Through the program, men and women have the opportunity to develop both the practical and personal skills needed to succeed in employment and independent living.

We are excited to begin another year.

We lost Archie too, just a few days later. We will miss them both, and like to think they are chirping away together in Heaven. Some of the kids held a small funeral service for them, and they were buried in the garden near the flagpole. 🥲

Faith, one of the two budgies here at Fairbanks Rescue Mission alongside Archie, died yesterday. Our clients are taking it pretty hard. She may have been small, but she was part of the team! People checked on her, talked to her, and looked forward to hearing her chirping during the day.

The shelter feels a little quieter now. Archie is still with us, but we know he’s feeling the loss too.

She was a little bird that meant a lot to a lot of people.

NOLO (No One Left Outside) was a huge success!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported the mission of the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. All funds raised from this event go directly to our general fund, helping us continue serving those in need in our community.
