🚒 Station 12 Remodel Complete! 🚒

The University Fire Department is proud to celebrate the completion of the newly remodeled Station 12! Thursday, UFD members, university leaders, and project partners gathered for a ceremonial hose cutting to officially mark the opening of the renovated station.

The Station 12 remodel provides significant improvements for our members and operations, including expanded and upgraded crew living quarters, a new apparatus bay, a new training room, an updated kitchen, and a new fitness facility generously donated by Usibelli Coal Mine.

UFD would like to extend our sincere appreciation to UAF Design and Construction, GHEMM Company, and the University Fire Commissioners, along with everyone who contributed to making this project possible.

These improvements provide our firefighters with an enhanced space to live, train, and prepare to serve the community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the new Station 12 a reality!

Last weekend, Ester Volunteer Fire Department conducted a joint training with Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue and the University Fire Department. Ester VFD acquired a structure from a gracious community member, and with authorization from the Department of Environmental Compliance, the fire crews were able to practice fire tactics on an actual structure fire with a controlled environment and instructors present. Then the structure was intentionally and safely burned to the ground.

UFD participated in a joint training operation with Maritime Helicopters to review emergency response to aviation emergencies. UFD crews also spoke with the company's pilots and reviewed emergency shutdown procedures and hazards associated with the company's helicopters.
