All that brown got you down? Is the stubborn cold dampening your spring vibes?

But here’s the thing: fire season doesn’t wait for perfect spring conditions. Alaska has already been in fire season for more than a month because dry vegetation and human activity have already led to multiple wildfire starts.

Fire season in Alaska is unpredictable. A cool, wet week can turn into dry, sunny conditions and lightning almost overnight. That’s why being prepared is always the smart move no matter what Mother Nature throws our way.

Update* The pups have been taken to the FNSB Animal Shelter. The wonderful staff at the Shelter were able to put us in contact with the owners and the dogs are now home.

These four-legged visitors wandered right into the bays of our station on Chena Ridge to check out the trucks, meet the crew, and collect as many pets and treats as possible. We can confirm they are excellent tour guests and have quickly become everyone’s favorite shift visitors.

We’re proud to share that one of our own has been recognized in a big way!

Captain Snorek was recently honored by the U.S. Air Force with a Civilian Achievement Award for his outstanding actions during the response to an F-35 aircraft crash in January 2025. Prior to joining our department, he served as a Captain with Eielson Air Force Base Fire & Emergency Services, where his leadership, professionalism, and experience played a critical role during this high-risk incident.

His continued commitment to the fire service and dedication to protecting others reflect the values and professionalism we strive for every day. We’re fortunate to have him on our team and proud to see his hard work and service recognized at such a high level.
