Last night after dinner, C-Shift firefighters decided it was the perfect time to get outside and throw some ladders!

Training in darker conditions is an important part of staying prepared. Emergencies don’t wait for daylight, and firefighters need to be confident and proficient with ladder operations no matter the time of day.

Consistent training helps ensure our crews are ready when you call 911.

This year’s Awards Banquet was a great opportunity to take a step back, celebrate another year at CGFR, and recognize the incredible members who continue to go above and beyond for our department and community.

We are incredibly proud to congratulate all of this years award recipients! Their dedication, hard work, leadership, and willingness to step up and serve are a huge part of what makes CGFR the department it is today.

The following 2026 awards and recipients include:

Recruit of the Year - FF/EMT Evelyn King
Firefighter of the Year - Engineer R.N.
Medic of the Year - Engineer Emmalee Acosta
Officer of the Year - Battalion Chief Bill Witte
Support Person of the Year - Admin Rebecca Mulholand

Every Wednesday we do a department lunch to thank our crews for all the hard work they do, and support local businesses. This week we had the pleasure of having representative Ashley Carrick and staff. They got to learn about our roles, responsibilities, and day to day operations. While they were at the station she talked about key issues that they are working on in our service area. Thank you for all you do and taking time out of your day to have lunch with us.

🎉Join us in congratulating our newest volunteer and scholarship firefighters!

After putting in the time training, studying, drilling, practicing, and hearing “again” from their instructors more times than they’d probably like to admit… they’ve officially completed their Jump Seat Qualifications(JSQs) and are now Entry Qualified Firefighters with CGFR!

We’re excited to watch them continue to learn, grow, and become an even bigger part of the CGFR family. We couldn’t be more proud of this group and everything they’ve accomplished so far!

Not only has he accepted a full-time position with us, but he also recently completed his Jump Seat Qualifications!
And if that wasn’t enough to celebrate…IT’S HIS BIRTHDAY!!!

We’ve got some exciting news to share!🎉🚒

FF Hebert and FF Platt have both accepted full-time permanent firefighter positions here at CGFR.

Both have worked hard to get to this point, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow and develop as firefighters and members of the CGFR family.
