⚠️ ALL roads have been cleared and are now open! Thanks to Division of Highways for the response and help!

🚨 Roadways closed on Riverside Drive and to the Benton's Ferry Bridge due to hillside and extreme debris (rock) in the roadway.

Pleasant Valley Road past Crackel Barrel and Maple Drive is also closed to high water! Best access to get around is over through vinegar hill.

Please don't argue with first responders about driving through the water.

Division of Highways is working to clean up riverside drive to open it back up!

Be patient!

May 24 at 8:24pm the Volunteers at Valley VFD were alerted for a vehicle fire with exposures off Danbury lane, Canterbury Estates. This is located in the County area of Marion County. Not in Whitehall. Caller advise their vehicle is on fire and it's inside the garage.

Chief-12 in Utility-128 responded along with Engine-122 Tower-12 Squad-12 and Utility-127. Chief-12 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the garage with a well involved vehicle, smoke coming from all 4 sides of the structure..Engine-122 arrived and quickly stretched a line to begin fire suppression while securing the hydrant. Tower-12 pulled in and set up to for possible ventilation. Firefighters from, Monongah Fire Dept. Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department BOOTHSVILLE VFDall went to work assisting Valley VFD with interior and truck operations, fire suppression overhaul and preservation of property all during a rainstorm..

The vehicle a (KIA) had caught fire while parked inside the homeowner's garage. A loud bang was heard from the garage, when the owner went out to check out the noise the rear of the car was on fire and a garage full of smoke. Firefighters had knocked the bulk of the fire within 20 minutes including opening up the roof to allow heat and gases escape from the unfinished attic area. The vehicle was not as quick to extinguish due to a compromised gas tank. Gasoline would continue to leak and burn for another hour inside the garage. Firefighters worked to isolate and mitigate the fuel while applying steady water to the fire. A dam was made from bags of oil dry and booms. This helped with stacking the foam that was then applied to the vehicle. This eventually put the fire to rest. Command-12 reported the scene to be under control within a couple hours after arrival.

Command-12 would return all mutual aid fire departments. No injuries were reported. Thanks to Marion County Rescue Squad for standing by and providing rehab. Thanks to Mon Power and their lines man for the fast response to secure the power.

Valley VFD returned after a walkthrough of the residence. Company-12 and its apparatuses were placed back in service by midnight.
