Rules of Engagement
The goal of using any communication tool by Cumberland County Schools (CCS), all of the schools in the District and teachers or sponsors associated with those schools, is to share important information with our public and engage in an open and respectful dialogue. The following guidelines are in place to ensure that we accomplish this goal:

* Posting regularly to highlight the

accomplishments of our students and staff
* Publicizing events that align with CCS’ Mission/Vision/Core Values/Strategic Priorities
* Communication platforms are to be treated like a classroom and/or a professional workplace
* CCS welcomes comments from students, parents and members of the community on any of our communication platform pages, however, it is to be used as an informative tool, not for two-way conversations. Any inappropriate remarks and/or profanity will be removed.
* Responses will not be given to comments made in the post feeds.
* Messages received “after-hours” via Instant Message will be responded to at our earliest opportunity.
* Personal issues or complaints about students and/or school personnel in the comment feed and comments regarding a personal issue with the District, a school, student, or a staff member will be removed. Any complaints and concerns about specific persons are handled confidentially.

* Any comments made that are redundant or inappropriate, not relating to the post itself, may be removed to ensure the message of the post is successfully conveyed.

🎓💡Join us in celebrating Christopher Matthews, a 2026 graduating senior from Jack Britt High School! His journey highlights the powerful impact of Career and Technical Education (CTE) experiences and workforce partnerships within Cumberland County Schools.

Christopher already possessed a strong passion for becoming an electrician, but he was preparing to graduate without clear employment prospects. On April 1, 2026, he attended the CCS Operations "April Tools' Day" career exploration event through his CTE program. Seeing the Electrical Department firsthand and experiencing the hands-on career opportunities within CCS Operations confirmed he was on the right path.

Determined to turn his dream into reality, Christopher teamed up with Marlo Mercer, CTE Special Populations Coordinator, to build a professional résumé and navigate the application process. Showing incredible initiative, he initially applied online for a Plumber Apprentice I position and later submitted an application for an Electrician Apprentice I position as soon as an opening became available.

Christopher's hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment paid off! He interviewed for both roles and ultimately received a full-time, permanent offer as an electrician, the exact career path he had his sights set on.

Thanks to this valuable CTE experience, the support of CCS Operations, and Christopher's determination, he is officially launching his career with Cumberland County Schools. This success story perfectly demonstrates how career exploration, industry partnerships, and meaningful opportunities connect classroom learning to real-world success.

🎒 ☑️The Cumberland County Department of Public Health is hosting a Back-to-School Immunization Clinic from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Families with kindergartners, 7th graders and 12th graders can get any required immunizations for free.

🎒 ☑️El Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Cumberland llevará a cabo una clínica de vacunación para el Regreso a Clases el martes, 8 de septiembre, de 4 a 7 p.m. Las familias con estudiantes de kindergarten, 7.º grado y 12.º grado pueden recibir gratuitamente todas las vacunas requeridas.

📹🪴Check out this video where Gray's Creek High School students Emma Dooney, Xavier Edgecombe, and Lilly Pirtle share how two years ago, the school's SGA collaborated with the Dorothy Gilmore Therapeutic Center to fund and build adaptive garden beds.

Since then, the garden has flourished. Every other Wednesday, the center has a gardening class where members learn about self-sustaining food sources and how to grow their own food. They also learn various gardening skills.

We are so proud of Emma, Xavier, and Lilly for their leadership and initiative in getting this project off the ground!
