Scattered severe thunderstorms will be possible late this Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Most of the strong to severe storms should remain in northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa, generally south of U.S. Highway 18. Some weaker showers and thunderstorms could reach further north into southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota. Hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts to around 60 mph will be possible near and south of U.S. Highway 20. Ensure you have a method to receive possible warnings, especially while you are sleeping overnight into Sunday.

While exact location and timing of storm development are uncertain, storms are most likely from mid-afternoon into the early evening near and north of I-90. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats, but an isolated tornado is possible. Continue to monitor the forecast for Monday and stay weather aware!

Unseasonably warm temperatures, gusty winds and very low humidity levels will lead to critical fire danger concerns this afternoon, especially across southern South Dakota and northern Nebraska. Avoid outdoor burning today, as rapid fire spread is likely. Report any fires to local authorities immediately!
