U.S. veteran and Veterans Treatment Court graduate Cowboy Mike was recently honored with a Superior Court challenge coin, presented by Chief John P. Fuery, in recognition of his inspiring journey of recovery and redemption.

Cowboy’s encounter with the criminal justice system didn’t occur until he was 50, when he hit his lowest point. Yet, instead of letting addiction define him, he turned his struggles into a turning point for positive change. Through years of dedication, accountability, and support from others, he is now three years sober, reunited with his family, and working as a Veteran Navigator with the Casa Grande Alliance—helping fellow veterans discover the same path of hope he once walked.

Sharing his story in front of a room full of people took real bravery. That honesty and openness inspire others to believe that change is possible for them too.

We’re proud of you, Cowboy. Thank you for your service—then and now. 🇺🇸

This year marks the 26th annual Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week. This celebration originated in 1999, when APPA members began requesting that states across the country recognize the valuable employees in community corrections. Today, Pinal County Superior Court issued a proclamation kicking off a celebratory week of recognizing and celebrating the men and women who spend their days working to improve outcomes for both individuals and the public safety of our communities.
Let the celebration begin! 🎉

Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week (PPPS Week) starts tomorrow! This year's theme, "Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision," honors the dedicated professionals who work every day to protect public safety, support individuals and families, and create opportunities for positive change throughout our communities.

Pinal County Adult Probation provides essential services that strengthen the justice system and improve outcomes for those they serve. Adult Probation professionals supervise individuals in the community, provide pretrial services, prepare presentence investigations, monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions, conduct home and employment visits, utilize electronic monitoring, and connect individuals with treatment, education, and community resources that support long-term success.

"Our staff is committed to balancing accountability with opportunities for change," said John P. Fuery, Chief Probation Officer. "Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion help strengthen public safety while encouraging individuals to make positive life changes. PPPS Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank these professionals for the important work they perform every day."

As National Treatment Court Month comes to a close, we would like to share a video once again that highlights one of the many success stories from our Drug Treatment Court program. This program operates in partnership with the Pinal County Superior Court, the Pinal County Public Defender, the Pinal County Attorney's Office, and various community providers.

The Drug Treatment Court is one of three adult treatment courts in Pinal County, alongside the Veterans Treatment Court and the Mental Health Treatment Court. Notably, our Drug Treatment Court is the longest-running program of its kind in the county, and Amanda is one of our proud graduates!
