💬 Our students have ideas for Florence, and we’re listening!

Mayor Keith Eaton and Councilmembers Tony Bencina and Les Buchner joined district leaders at Florence Middle School on Monday to hear directly from student leaders about growing up in Florence, what they love about their hometown, and their ideas for making it even better.

These conversations give our Town leaders a chance to learn from younger residents and remind students that their voices matter in shaping our community’s future.

Town of Florence leaders were back in the classroom today! 🏫

Mayor Keith Eaton and Councilmembers Tony Bencina and Les Buchner joined Florence Unified School District leaders for visits to Florence High School, Florence Elementary School, and Florence Middle School.

The visits gave Town and district leaders an opportunity to connect with students and staff and get a firsthand look at the learning, programs, and opportunities available in our local schools.

Thank you to FUSD, school staff, and students for welcoming our Town leaders and sharing some of the great things happening in Florence schools! 📚

🏛️ Reminder: The Data Center Facility Ad Hoc Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting tonight, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall.

✅ The committee will discuss existing data center rules, zoning, and development processes in Florence.

✅ The committee serves in an advisory capacity to research and evaluate potential impacts of data centers, identify potential benefits, concerns, risks, and mitigation measures, and provide fact-based findings and recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission and/or Town Council for potential consideration.

ℹ️ There are no active data center proposals under review at this time. The committee does not have the authority to approve, deny, or negotiate any project or otherwise act on behalf of the Town Council or Planning and Zoning Commission.

📣 The meeting will include a Call to the Public for anyone who would like to speak.

💧 Community Volunteers Needed! 💧

Arizona Project WET is seeking community volunteers to lead hands-on science and water stewardship activities for Florence fourth-grade students during the 14th Annual Florence Water Festival. 🧪🌎

Volunteers may participate on one or both festival days:

📅 Tuesday, October 13, 2026 – 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
📍 Poston Butte High School

📅 Thursday, October 15, 2026 – 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
📍 Florence High School

🎓 In-person training will be held Tuesday, October 6, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Viney Jones Library & Community Center. Online training resources are also available for those unable to attend.

Lunch and snacks will be provided during the festival. Sign up today and help create two incredible days of learning for local students!
