High water and flooding are occurring this evening across portions of Clinton County and in the City of Frankfort. Please avoid flooded roads and NEVER drive through standing or moving water.

We obviously received heavy rainfall over night in Clinton County with flash flooding. Unfortunately, we cannot control Mother Nature when we receive large amounts of heavy rain in a short period. We are fortunate to not have the extreme flooding other County's are experiencing.

Please remember to "Turn Around Don't Drown."

Here are just a few picture from this morning. The first three are from State Rd 29 just South of Michigantown, one is on 400 East just South of County Rd 150 S and finally County Rd 330 East North of 150 S.

* Until 115 PM EDT.

* At 1212 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Brookston to Otterbein to near Williamsport, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Lafayette, Frankfort, Crawfordsville, West Lafayette, Lebanon, Delphi, Flora, Rossville, Shadeland, Thorntown, Dayton, Battle Ground, Mulberry, Russiaville, Jamestown, Waynetown, Darlington, Linden, Colfax, and Camden.

Thank you everyone that has reached out to me by one way or another and congratulated me on my retirement of 17 years with the Clinton County EMA. It has been an adventure for sure.Darrell Sanders, thank you so much for everything you have done for me and my family. Darrell, you taught me so much in an area that I thought I would never be entering, you have shown me how to have patience and kindness when I know I didn’t have it in me and you will always, always be family to me. Love you so much. I know, I know you probably had a lot of regrets or second thoughts of hiring me but hey, in the long run, I wouldn’t have it any other way. To all the people that I have met in my career with EMA, thank you for your kindness and your support. This career definitely has changed my way of thinking on a lot of things concerning our County and our state of Indiana. I most certainly have a little bit more understanding and patience and realizing that we really do need each other in so many different areas of our lives. Renea, thank you, for listening to my fears and concerns for the past year, thank you for giving me room to cope with a life-changing event. I wish you nothing but the best. As they say when one door closes another door opens. The journey that John and I will be taking now includes a move to Tennessee , where we will be making amazing memories and many of them. I will never forget Clinton County EMA, or the people that have came into my life for one reason or another. I will miss you, thank you and God bless.

Today, we celebrated the retirement of our Deputy Director, Terri Russell. Terri was a dedicated employee for Clinton County EMA for 17 years. We wish her all the best and thank her for her years of service.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon Monday through Thursday. Afternoon heat indices will rise into the low and mid 100s over central Indiana with highs in the 90s. Limit outdoor activities, wear lightweight, loose fit clothing and drink plenty of fluids.

Disaster Relief Now Available for Many Hoosiers

Governor Mike Braun has declared a disaster emergency for 63 Indiana counties impacted by severe weather, flooding, tornadoes and the June derecho.

If your primary residence was damaged and you are uninsured or underinsured, you may be eligible for up to $25,000 through Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery.

-Assistance is available for eligible homeowners
-Applications are now open
-Additional counties may qualify as damage assessments continue

The State Disaster Relief Fund applies only to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. State funding cannot replace insurance coverage, which is the primary and best source of protection from storm damage. The fund only addresses the costs of repairing, replacing or restoring property that is the primary residence of the applicant, and cannot be used to help pay insurance deductibles.
