We're celebrating summer with an outdoor festival featuring ice cream from Sprinklz, the musical stylings of Mutiny Bay Brass Band, a balloon twister, giant bubbles, crafts, and more. It's Your Story, Your World at your library!

Summer Festival takes place on Saturday, June 27th from 11:00am-1:00pm. This is a free, all ages festival. We hope to see you there!

Join us at the Freeland Library on Tuesday, June 16th, from 3:00-4:30pm as photographer, author, and Whidbey Island resident Michael Holtby talks about his latest project honoring Whidbey Island veterans who served in the Vietnam War. At the presentation, a half dozen Whidbey Island vets will accompany Mike and share their experiences from Vietnam.

Michael's photographs will be on display at the Freeland Library throughout the month of June.

Learn about a time when explorers from around the world relied on Tall Ships for exploration, trade, cultural exchange, and how these Tall Ships connected Whidbey Island to global markets.

How Tall Ships Connected Whidbey to the World will take place on Saturday, June 27th from 11:00am-1:00pm. No registration needed.

Presenter Garry Heinrich worked for over a decade as a Tall Ships captain up and down the West coast, including on the Irving Johnson, a 110-foot brigantine, a traditionally rigged wooden replica of a merchant ship from the Age of Exploration.

Join us for Practical Astronomy with Dr. Dan Tomandl on Saturday, June 20th from 10:00am-11:30am. We will "act out" daily and annual solar motions and reveal how to know where to park near a tree to be in the shade after shopping. After learning how sun dials work, we will then make an accurate one out of card stock and string. The information and activity presented is appropriate for anyone age 9 and older.

Join photographer, author and Whidbey Island resident Michael Holtby as he talks about his latest project, a series of photographic portraits honoring Whidbey Island veterans who served in the Vietnam War.

Honoring Our Vietnam Veterans: Portraits and Stories will take place on Tuesday, June 16th from 3:00-4:30 pm. No registration required.

His photographs, on display at Freeland Library throughout the month of June, feature a veteran's portrait alongside a first-person narrative about the impact of the war on their lives. At the presentation, a half dozen Whidbey Island vets will accompany Mike and share their experiences while in Vietnam.
