This morning, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new FPD Arakelian Family Kennels, an important investment in the safety and wellbeing of Fresno Police Department’s hardworking K9 Unit. 🐾

FPD’s K9s assist with thousands of calls for service each year, supporting patrol operations, suspect tracking, narcotics detection, and community engagement across Fresno. The new kennel facility will provide a dedicated space for the canines when handlers are away for training or leave, helping create a safer and more comfortable environment for both the dogs and officers alike.

Grateful to the Arakelian family and all the community partners who helped make this meaningful project possible.

Honored to unveil District 4’s newest aviation themed traffic box art installation this morning alongside Mayor Jerry Dyer and the talented artist herself, Kayla Casteel.

This piece is part of the City’s ongoing effort to beautify Fresno through public art that celebrates the character and culture of our neighborhoods.

Economic empowerment starts with access, opportunity, and community. 🤝

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce and learn more about the impactful work they’re doing to support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the Central Valley.

From business development and mentorship to financial literacy workshops and contractor assistance programs, the Chamber continues creating pathways for small businesses to grow, succeed, and build generational opportunity right here in Fresno.

I also learned more about their efforts to expand access to transportation through electric mobility programs that help provide e-bikes and other transportation resources to residents who may not otherwise have reliable access to a vehicle.

Grateful for the conversation, the insight shared, and the continued commitment to uplifting our local business community.

From serving 36 years with the Fresno Police Department to helping lead the creation of CARE Fresno, Darrell Fifield has spent decades investing in people and creating safe, supportive spaces where Fresno’s youth and families can thrive.

Future careers are being shaped right here in the Central Valley.

I had the opportunity to tour Center for Advanced Research and Technology (CART) and see firsthand how students from across Fresno Unified and neighboring districts are gaining real-world, hands-on experience in fields like engineering, health sciences, digital media, robotics, and technology.

Programs like CART are essential because they bridge the gap between the classroom and career pathways, giving students the tools, confidence, and experience to succeed long before graduation. I left incredibly impressed by the innovation, professionalism, and talent of the students and staff leading the way.
