Please help us congratulate our June 2026 employee of the month.
I am pleased to nominate Michelle Hutchason for Employee of the Month in recognition for her outstanding dedication, positive attitude, and consistent willingness to go above and beyond expectations. Michelle started her career at Fulton State Hospital 25 years ago, dating back all way to the group homes as an aide then from there going to Hearnes, eventually making her way to environmental services, before she decided to take her final position at the switchboard. Michelle is someone we can always rely on. Her attendance and punctuality set a strong example for the entire team, consistently present, dependable, and ready to contribute each day. Beyond simply showing up, she brings a level of care and kindness that positively impacts both coworkers and visitors alike. What truly sets Michelle apart is her genuine compassion and team-first mindset. Always willing to lend a helping hand, offer support during busy times, and step in wherever needed without hesitation. Her attitude fosters a welcoming and supportive work environment, making a meaningful difference in team morale. In addition to daily responsibilities, Michelle consistently goes above and beyond. Whether it’s taking extra time to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly, assisting others without being asked, or maintaining a positive outlook even in challenging situations, they exemplify what it means to be an exceptional employee. For reliability, kindness, and dedication to excellence, I wholeheartedly recommend Michelle for Employee of the Month.

A few members of the Fulton State Hospital BVE Team participated in the Bring the Fun Committees initiative.

It was nice to break from the normal job duties to brighten up the workspace for our coworkers and work together as a team to do so.

On April 1st, 2026, FSH went “live” with CHARTe! We have to give a huge shout out to everyone involved and this means EVERYONE all 1000+ staff! FSH was praised by both DMH Central Office and Oracle for their preparation in training and organizing this major implementation.

The Electronic Health Record Project began in July 2021 with an expected project timeline of five years. Over the course of this time, DMH organizations banded together with the goal to standardize both DD and BH with one solution. In October of 2023, DMH announced Oracle\Cerner was the product chosen. The chosen EHR system is a widely used solution in a variety of large healthcare organizations that has been tailored to fit the needs of DMH. Many hours were spent building this new system over the course of the next two years.

Since the new EHR was tailored, we were given the opportunity to name our new EHR. Through DMH wide voting, both the name and the logo were designed and voted on by staff. Our EHR was named CHARTe (Comprehensive Health and Record Tracking electronic).

In September of 2025, several FSH staff members stepped up and volunteered to be specialty trainers alongside our primary EHR trainer, while also maintaining their full-time duties. THANK YOU! These staff headed off to Kansas City to Train the Trainer sessions where they learned the new system and became certified Oracle trainers.

Fulton State Hospital was scheduled in wave 2 of a staggered 3-part implementation across DMH. Over the last six months our work at FSH really ramped up to prepare for this new system. Starting in late January, our internal trainers spent 10 weeks training over 1000 staff in varying disciplines. There were many challenges as in any project, but our FSH family came together to make this implementation happen.

We are still working out some kinks and continuing to improve workflows, but we wanted to share this major change for our organization and again thank everyone at FSH for your dedication and commitment. We couldn’t have been successful without all of us.

Later in the summer we are planning to celebrate our accomplishments, but for now we are glad to be working in the new system that has been years in the making!

Fulton State Hospital recently held onsite training for staff to learn ALICE! What is ALICE? ALICE is a proactive option based active shooter training. Alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate. The training empowers individuals to make real time decisions such as evacuating or disrupting the shooter. Staff who participated in the training can now teach others how to be proactive!
