The Gahanna Division of Police is a community-focused, professionally-minded law enforcement agency led by Chief Jeffrey Spence. It is comprised of 62 full-time sworn officers, three part-time sworn officers, 11 communications technicians, three reserve (volunteer) officers and eight civilian support staff members. The Division is divided into four components Support Services, Investigative Servi

ces, Field Services, and Communications. The Gahanna Division of Police is a certified law enforcement agency through the Ohio Collaborative Community Police Advisory Board. The Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival, Gahanna, OH is this weekend! Take a look at the road closures for the event so you can prepare for a smooth rest of the week:

🚦Town Street from Mill Street to High Street, and from High Street to Short Street is now closed. High Street will remain open until 7 p.m. tonight for through traffic.

STARTING AT 7 P.M. TONIGHT:
➡️Mill Street/U.S. Route 62 from Granville Street to Carpenter Road
➡️High Street from Ogden Alley to Walnut Street
➡️Walnut Street from Mill Street to High Street
➡️Town Street from Mill Street to Short Street

Road closures will be in effect through Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m.

The suspect is described as:
🐾 Furry
🐾 Friendly
🐾 Extremely interested in treats
🐾 Refusing to answer questions without an attorney present

As more residents take to the outdoors this summer, we’re seeing an increase in e-bike, scooter, and bicycle traffic throughout the community.

To help keep everyone safe while enjoying our shared spaces, the Gahanna Division of Police encourages riders, drivers, and parents to keep these safety reminders in mind:

🚲 For Riders:
✅Always wear a helmet
✅Ride at a safe and controlled speed
✅ Obey traffic signs and signals
✅ Stay alert and make yourself visible to others
✅ Keep your attention on the road or path—avoid using cell phones or wearing headphones while riding

🚗 For Drivers:
✅ Be on the lookout for cyclists and scooter riders
✅ Leave plenty of space when passing riders
✅ Slow down in areas where children may be present

Thank you for doing your part to help keep Gahanna’s roads, trails, parks, and neighborhoods safe for everyone.

Earlier today, a four-legged suspect was brought to the Police Department after being found wandering the streets without proper identification. 🐾

The suspect refused to provide a statement, attempted to charm officers with excessive tail wagging, and was caught accepting treats without hesitation. Multiple officers spent valuable investigative time determining who was, in fact, a “good girl.”

She is currently in custody at GPD headquarters and is awaiting transport to Franklin County Animal Control. If you know her peoples please have them contact 614-342-4240 option #1 to arrange for release.

You may notice school zone speed limit lights continuing to flash in areas around Gahanna this spring and summer.

Several school zones will remain active to support the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools summer school program.

⚠️ When the lights are flashing, the speed limit is 20 mph.

Please stay alert, slow down, and help keep students, families, and staff safe as they travel to and from summer school activities.

In partnership with Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, the Division of Police is requesting assistance with an unsolved homicide.

On February 26, 2021, at approximately 11:11 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at Cinemark Movies 16 in Stoneridge Plaza.

Officers found 22-year-old Tyronn Brown and another victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals. Mr. Brown later died from his injuries, while the second victim survived.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
