Seven Brothers Christopher along with their counselor, Chris, participated in a decades old community event to honor veterans in four local cemeteries. On Saturday, May 16, the Brothers, who volunteered for this activity, gathered with other volunteers to place new flags on veterans’ graves at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Part of a larger effort organized by American Legion Post 247 and Major Tim Warn, USA (Ret.), close to 4,000 flags were placed over two days at four local cemeteries. “It was great to have the Brothers Christopher here contributing so enthusiastically to the day. They took charge of placing flags at two of our largest sections and then asked to do more!” said Warn who also expressed his gratitude to Fr. Dennis Polanco, SA (President and Spiritual Advisor at the Inn) and the SCI staff for making their participation possible.

Each month at the Inn, we create a 'coffee house' and open mic at the podium, and it’s one of the best attended events we have! The men share poems, stories, songs, jokes, and reflections in a relaxed space with coffee, snacks, music, and a lot of laughter. It really feels like sitting together in a local café for a couple of hours.

For our Brothers Christopher, it’s a chance to express themselves freely, support one another, and connect. A lot of former residents will probably remember these gatherings well.

Last month we had the pleasure of spending the morning with Mamakating Knights of Columbus - Council #14560. Following Sunday Mass, the group joined us for breakfast and presented a donation to St. Christopher’s Inn. It was a great opportunity to connect, share stories, and learn more about the Knights’ CORE program. Special thanks to Janet, Donna, and our Food Service Team for helping make the morning so welcoming.
