George West ISD is excited to welcome Chris Thomisee as our new Director of Emergency Management! In this important role, Mr. Thomisee will help lead districtwide safety and security efforts, emergency preparedness, campus response procedures, and continued collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency management partners.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a top priority, and we are pleased to have Mr. Thomisee joining our team to provide additional leadership and support in this area.

GWISD Safety Update

George West ISD is aware of a TikTok video currently circulating that mentions George West. Local law enforcement has been notified, and district administration is actively addressing the situation.

As an added precaution, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at our campuses tomorrow. The safety and security of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

We appreciate the continued support and cooperation of our Longhorn community.

Interim Superintendent Sara A. Alvarado conducted an additional substitute training today, preparing more individuals to serve in classrooms across George West ISD.
Participants reviewed district expectations, classroom procedures, student safety, and strategies for creating a positive learning environment. These trainings help build a dependable pool of substitutes who are ready to support our students and staff when needed.

Last night marked an exciting step forward for George West ISD and our students!
During the GWISD Board meeting, the Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Boys & Girls Club to establish a Boys & Girls Club school site at George West ISD.
This partnership will provide our students with a safe, structured, and supportive place to go after school while offering opportunities for enrichment, positive relationships, and continued learning beyond the school day. For our families, it provides an additional resource and peace of mind knowing their children will have access to a caring environment right here in our community.
We are grateful to the leadership of the Boys & Girls Club for working alongside George West ISD to make this opportunity possible, and we appreciate our Board of Trustees for their continued commitment to supporting programs that meet the needs of our students and families.
When schools and community partners come together, our students benefit. We are excited about what this partnership will bring to our Longhorn families! 💙🤍
