🚔Lewes man arrested for DUI, drug, and weapons charges,

On January 22, 2026, at approximately 11:47 p.m., a Georgetown Police Officer on patrol in the area of North Bedford Street and observed a black Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound without its headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop and contacted the single occupant.
The driver, identified as Brian Govin, 42 of Lewes De, was contacted and the officer observed an open container of a suspected alcoholic beverage in plain view. Further investigation determined that Mr. Govin was driving under the influence of alcohol. A computer inquiry revealed that Mr. Govin has multiple prior DUI arrests and convictions.
Mr. Govin was also found in possession of ma*****na. An inventory search of the vehicle, conducted prior to towing, revealed additional drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun. Mr. Govin is a person prohibited stemming from a previous felony conviction.
Mr. Govin was charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession, Purchase, Ownership, or Control of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm)
• Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol – 4th Offense (Felony)
• Possession of an Untraceable Firearm
• Possession or Consumption of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance (Except Human Growth Hormone) Without a Prescription
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Ma*****na Related) – Civil Violation
• Failure to Have Lights On When Required
Mr. Govin was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) in lieu of $91,000.00 cash bail.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
