Who’s ready to brave the tundra for some top tier CE?!

The Northeast Regional EMS Conference kicks off TOMORROW, February 21.

Blizzard conditions? No problem.
Subzero temps? We laugh in fleece lined snowsuits.
Hot cocoa between lectures? Absolutely.

Grab your parka, your bomber hat, and your favorite trauma shears. We are heading to Grand Forks for a weekend of learning, laughs, and EMS camaraderie.

Tag your partner who still says, “It’s not that cold.”

See you there.

Hey EMS friends!

The North Dakota EMS Association is rolling out the welcome mat for the 2026 Northeast Regional EMS Conference in Grand Forks, ND on February 21-22.

Whether you need the remainder of your recertification hours or are just looking to start collecting new ones, we’ve got you covered. It’s a great excuse to get out of town, brush up on your skills, and swap stories with fellow EMS pros.

Weather in February? Who knows! Could be a snowstorm, could be a sunny 32°F… either way, bring your sense of humor (and maybe a snowsuit and mittens).

Mark your calendars, bundle up, and get ready for learning, laughs, and a little North Dakota adventure along the way.

Congratulations Kayla Coffman

I am very excited to announce that Valley Ambulance was awarded again a kindhearted gift from the Ralph Boone Charitable Foundation!!!

We rely on donations to support our ambulance service to continue to assure a high level of emergency care to our community.
Thank you again Bev Boone, Liz Suda and the foundation for your generous gift.

Thank you to the many EMS professionals and service leaders who participated in our recent statewide survey. Your responses continue to highlight both the strengths of North Dakota EMS and the challenges we must address together.

The data tells an important story:

• 60 percent of services believe they will still be operating 10 years from now, demonstrating confidence and long-term commitment in many communities.
• North Dakota currently has 3,786 licensed EMS responders, a number that reflects dedication across the state.
• Yet 16 percent of responders report frequently thinking about leaving EMS. That is more than 600 people statewide — roughly five individuals for every ambulance service.

This raises a critical question:
Can your service afford to lose five people?

Retention and recruitment remain two of the most serious challenges facing EMS. We want to hear your ideas, experiences, and successful strategies.

How can we attract new members? What’s helping your service retain the responders you have?

Your insights will help guide NDEMSA’s efforts to strengthen and support EMS services statewide. Let's work together to ensure a sustainable and thriving EMS system for the future.

Thank you to all North Dakota EMS services that participated in our recent survey. Your input provides valuable insight into the health and sustainability of EMS across the state.

The data shown in the graph highlights both encouraging trends and areas that require continued attention:

• 69% of services (81 out of 118) report that they expect to remain in operation for 10 years or longer.
• 31% of services (37 out of 118) are uncertain about long-term sustainability and feel they may only be able to continue for 5 years.
• Importantly, there have been no EMS service closures in the past 2.5 years, reflecting ongoing resilience and commitment across North Dakota.

NDEMSA will continue to use this data to advocate for resources, support service leaders, and strengthen the future of EMS in our state. Thank you for your continued dedication to the communities you serve.
