Granbury City Council, Sept 15, 2026, discussed a proposed agreement between the City of Granbury and Hood County regarding police dispatch services.
Following discussion, Council directed City Manager Chris Coffman to coordinate with Hood County and present the proposed dispatch agreement to the City Council for consideration.

At the beginning of the Sept. 15 City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Jarratt read a statement regarding recall petitions received by several members of the City Council: “Councilpersons Ullom, Corrigan, Overdier, Parker, Mayor Pro Tem Wadley and myself, Mayor Jarratt have all received certifications of recall petitions as to Councilpersons Ullom, Corrigan, and Overdier, Mayor Pro Tem Wadley, and Mayor Jarratt.
Pursuant to Section 4.08 of the City Charter, any Councilperson who receives a petition for recall has to the right to request a public hearing in writing by presenting to the Council. I have received such a request in writing from Councilperson Corrigan, Councilperson Ullom, Councilperson Overdier, Mayor Pro Tem Wadley, and I, Mayor Jarratt am also submitting to the City Council my formal written request for a public hearing. The public hearing will be scheduled within the time period as required by Texas Law and the Granbury City Charter."

Granbury City Council heard public comment and discussed proposed amendments to the City’s zoning ordinance establishing additional standards for data centers and power generation facilities.
The proposed standards address issues including site plans, setbacks, building size and height, traffic, landscaping and screening, lighting, utilities and emergency access. Council also received updates regarding state laws that may affect the City’s authority to regulate these facilities.
Following Executive Session, Council voted to reconsider its previous action and postpone further consideration of the item until Feb. 2, 2027.

Decisions made by the Texas Legislature have a direct impact on Granbury, from how the City funds services to what local leaders can do to address the needs of Granbury residents.
The City is forming a five-citizen Legislative Task Force to help ensure Granbury’s interests are represented during the next legislative session. Applications are now being accepted.
When Granbury became a Home-Rule City in 1988, residents gained greater ability to make decisions based on local needs and priorities. In recent legislative sessions, the state has increasingly limited local decision-making authority.
Legislators will meet in Austin next January. Task Force members will work with City staff to learn about proposed legislation that could affect Granbury, discuss its potential impact and make recommendations to the City Council.
We are looking for people who care about Granbury and want to serve their community. You don’t have to be a policy expert or live within the City limits. You simply need an interest in Granbury’s future and a willingness to learn, listen and participate.
The Task Force may also provide opportunities for citizens to travel to Austin and speak directly with state senators, representatives, other leaders and their staffs about issues affecting Granbury.

Granbury is receiving more than $107 million in state financial assistance to improve the drinking water system residents depend on now and into the future.
On Sept. 10, the Texas Water Development Board approved $49.985 million in financing for Granbury to improve the existing water treatment plant and help build a new 5-million-gallon-per-day water treatment plant. The financing is expected to save the City approximately $14.6 million over the life of the loan compared with conventional financing.
This funding builds on the $57.8 million state grant awarded in October 2025 to Granbury for drinking water improvements. Together, the funding will help improve the existing water treatment plant, add advanced treatment capabilities, increase water treatment capacity and improve the reliability of the water system as Granbury prepares for future needs. The advanced treatment improvements will also provide the City with additional capabilities to address emerging contaminants such as PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” as water quality standards and treatment needs continue to evolve.
City Council and City staff have played a key role in making this funding possible. Council, the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee, and staff have spent years planning for the community’s future water needs, developing projects and pursuing state funding opportunities, while City Council has provided the direction and approvals needed to move the projects forward.
“Our residents depend on us to make sure their water system is safe and reliable today, and prepared for tomorrow,” said City Manager Chris Coffman. “Our staff and City Council have worked together to plan ahead and pursue outside funding that can make these important improvements possible while reducing the financial burden on our community. Saving approximately $14.6 million in interest through this new financing and a $57.8 million grant is a significant benefit for Granbury residents.”
This is part of Granbury’s long-term investment in infrastructure and will help ensure the community has a reliable, high-quality water supply for years to come.
