Our wonderful volunteers hard at work while you sleep.

This morning early, while most of Hood County slept, a family lost most of their earthly possessions in a fire. Please pray for that family.
And while most of you slept, a small band of men and women, young and old, got out of bed and rushed to help people who were in trouble that they didn't even know. They came from all over the county, did the best job they could and didn't receive anything for doing it. With all due respect to Batman, The Terminator, Roger Staubach and Nolan Ryan....these people are my heroes. Many of them left the fire ground to head off to work with just a few hours sleep. God Bless each one of them. What a place we live in. Hood County...

Despite minimal rain today, the Burn Ban REMAINS IN EFFECT. Areas are still very dry and not enough rain has been received to lift the ban.

10/11/2019

Conditions still exist for grass fires very easily. A downed power line created an approximately 20 acre grass fire today North of Tolar. It is contained and the size is estimated at this time. Units and Texas Forest Service remain on scene.

10/11/2019

We did receive some much needed rain but the Burn Ban remains in effect. We need more rain to assist in the dry conditions.

Your local Cresson Volunteer Firefighters have been busy!

Some days get a little busy for us. In a 24 hour period, we responded to an electrical hazard/fire when a car hit a pole, a grass fire, and then a giant mulch pile fire that sparked several grass fires. While fighting this last fire we also handled two major traffic accidents. All of our trucks were out, and 15 - 20 members helped handle these calls.

09/28/2019

The burn form remains removed due to forecasted winds up to 20mph today.

DCBE-Acton VFD

Our neighbors at DCBE/Acton VFD looking for help.

Neighbors,
I know many of you would like to help us but can't. Perhaps there is another way you can get involved with this group of wonderful people. As a department, we meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month, except December. At 6 PM on those days we have a family meal here at the fire station. Our members take turns cooking the meals and they do a great job. We usually have between 15 and 25 members show up to eat.

If cooking or serving is of interest to you please consider volunteering for one of those meals. We have a fully stocked kitchen. And an outdoor grill. You could prepare the meal at your home, bring it down, you could cook it here or you could purchase it and deliver it to us. We can reimburse you for the cost or you can donate it.

This is a great way to give back to the people who protect your community and get to know these folks.
October 3 , 17. November 7 and 21 and December 5 are available.

If interested leave message here or email me at [email protected] or call me on my cell. 817-578-1438
Stephen Boynton

Thanks so much.

If you live in the DCBE/Acton area, please help out your volunteer fire department.
09/18/2019

If you live in the DCBE/Acton area, please help out your volunteer fire department.

The DCBE/Acton VFD is in need of volunteers. The qualifications are as follows; must be 18, be able to pass a background check, no experience necessary.

We have many jobs on the fire department. Some require physical strength while others do not.

About 75% of our calls are medical in nature. In 2018 we answered 1040 calls, about 2.8 calls a day.

We will train you for whatever job you are interested in doing, be it only medical, only firefighting, or both. We have a Rehab vehicle and a Dive team, We train in Swift Water, grass fires, structure fires, vehicle accidents and extrication, CPR, trauma, oxygen delivery, etc.

We cannot pay you for your time but we can promise you this. If you want to help your neighbors or your community, there is no better place to do that than here. The family you will become a part of is tight knit and wonderful. No finer group of people exist.

We meet every first and third Thursday of the month at 630 PM.

We need you now, don't wait.

There are 8 other departments in Hood County that need your help too, in case you don't live in our territory. LOL

Tolar Volunteer Fire Department is known as Station 90 and is located at 9005 W US Hwy 377. Tolar is the farthest station on the west side of the county and has the largest fire district. However, most of it is rural, therefore, the call volume is lower than smaller fire districts.
