On May 26th, GFN Agents arrested five Ecuadorian nationals near Grand Forks, ND following a vehicle stop. When encountered, four of the individuals attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. The vehicle was seized and all subjects were processed for being illegally present in the U.S.; they will be held in custody pending removal proceedings. I commend our agent’s continued vigilance and service to the country.

Pembina Station kicked off its Citizens Academy last week; including hands-on activities such as mock traffic stops, handcuffing drills, less-lethal device familiarization, and use of force scenarios. Over the next five weeks, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Border Patrol operations and how they support our Border Security mission.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.
 
Today, U.S. Border Patrol Agents serve with that same commitment—protecting our Nation’s borders, often in remote and challenging environments, in honor of those who came before them.
 
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Our mission continues because of them.

The last week of April, GFN Agents conducted Marine Training in International Falls, MN. Earning marine certifications strengthens our team's ability to patrol the 463 miles of water boundary within our area of operations.

CBP mourns the loss of Border Patrol Agent Sean M. McDonough.

BPA McDonough started his CBP career in 2007. He recently served at the Wellesley Island Border Patrol Station, Buffalo Sector in New York. He also served in Nogales Station and in Houlton Sector. BPA McDonough also served in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and as a Military Police Officer.

He is a true hero who selflessly served to protect America.

As a CBP family, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of BPA McDonough.

On February 4th, Chief Patrol Agent Scott D. Garrett and agency partners welcomed DHS Secretary Kristi Noem at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for a roundtable discussion focused on technology advancements and collaborative efforts to strengthen national security on the northern border.
