As part of our Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program, our young explorers dug into something a little different at today’s Try-Brary: Try Exotic Fruit! 🦕🍍🌎

Participants unearthed new flavors from around the world as they sampled dragonfruit, papaya, raspberry oranges, apple pears, and more. After each taste test, the kids became official fruit critics, rating each fruit and comparing their favorites with friends. From sweet surprises to unexpected tastes, there were fruits for everyone.
Just like discovering a great book, trying something new can take you on an exciting journey. Thank you to everyone who joined us as we continued to Unearth a Story, one taste at a time! 🍐

Check out this set up! The Library of Things is up and running, and we also have Yoto players with multiple card options. What's a Yoto player? It's a digital audio player for children, and the cards are various books that range from phonics to musical sound tracks to stories. A device that does the job of reading aloud for you!? So much fun!

On your next visit to Devereaux Memorial Library stop by the Library of Things next to the directors office and look over all the offerings. They range from craft stuff, to outdoor games and the above mentioned Yoto players. There's a lot available to check out and keep you and your family entertained.

Saturday was the Grown-up and Me paint class. It was a lot of fun and they all made some amazing paintings!
If you missed this class and want to do one (or would like to do it again), join us at Frederic Community Library on Thursday, July 16th for the program at
5 PM.
She will be doing a different painting, so it will not be a repeat.

📚✏️ Help Us Set Students Up for Success! 👕🎒

The Crawford County Library is collecting donations for our Back-to-School Supply & Clothing Drive, and we need your help!

From now through July 30th, we’re accepting donations of school supplies, backpacks, shoes, and new or gently worn clothing for students of all ages. Every notebook, pencil, backpack, and clothing item helps ensure local students start the school year feeling prepared and confident.

🎒 Donations can be dropped off at Devereaux Memorial Library
📅 Community Days Distribution: August 1st & 2nd

Most-needed items include:
✏️ Pens & pencils
📓 Notebooks
🖍️ Crayons & markers
📏 Rulers
✂️ Scissors
📁 Binders & folders
🎒 Backpacks
👕 New or gently worn clothing (all sizes)
👟 Shoes

Once a month, at the Devereaux Memorial library, we travel the globe in our “Around the World” club. This month, we landed in Peru! 🇵🇪 🌎

Patrons learned about the geological, cultural and environmental history of the region and even had the opportunity to sample a few dishes of Peruvian cuisine!

This program is open to all ages! We are workshopping the next idea for Around the World, so stay tuned for that! ✈️

🌋Science Club was erupting with excitement today!

Our young scientists created their own volcanoes by covering beakers with Play-Doh, then watched in amazement as they erupted with a bubbly chemical reaction! We ever got to see a real piece of Basalt! 🪨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this explosive afternoon of hands-on learning and fun! We can’t wait to see what we’ll discover together this summer!🌋

What a wonderful turnout for yesterday’s Crafty Club’s Paint a Pot & Plant a Plant! 🌱🎨

Participants got creative decorating their own flower pots and then picked out something special from our Library of Seeds to take home and watch grow. It was so much fun seeing everyone’s unique designs and green thumbs in action!

We will be running this program again in Frederic on Tuesday, June 30th!
