Congratulations to Tom Schmidt, our 2025 Paul J. Schierl Volunteer of the Year! 🎉

This award honors a volunteer who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin, including helping strengthen the financial health of our organization and expand opportunities for local youth. The Paul J. Schierl Volunteer of the Year Award is generously sponsored by the Cornerstone Foundation of Northeastern Wisconsin.

Tom generously represented BBBSNEW in NEW Dancing with Our Stars, dedicating countless hours of his time and energy to the event. Through his efforts and the incredible support of the community, he helped raise an amazing $56,000 for our mentoring programs.

These funds will help connect more youth with caring mentors and expand access to life-changing mentoring relationships throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

We are incredibly grateful for Tom’s dedication, generosity, and belief in the power of mentorship. 💚

Big Brother Michael and Little Brother Charlie got to experience their first Packers Family Night together! 💚🏈

Michael and Charlie were matched this past May and are looking forward to spending their first football season together.

They might not have the same favorite NFL team, since Charlie is a Seahawks fan, but he still sported Packers gear for Family Night! 😄

It’s New Match Monday! 💚 Meet Big Sister Tyra and Little Sister Kiara!

We’re excited to partner with Odyssey Climbing + Fitness to help more local kids connect with caring mentors! 🧗💚

More than 100 kids in Northeast Wisconsin are currently waiting for a Big. Big Brothers Big Sisters matches volunteer mentors, called Bigs, with children and teens, called Littles, to build meaningful one-to-one relationships.

You don’t need special skills or experience to be a Big. You simply need to show up, listen, encourage, and be yourself. Time together can include climbing, playing games, trying new activities, sharing a meal, talking, or simply hanging out.

Through this partnership, Odyssey members who become Bigs and current Bigs who become Odyssey members can receive $10 off their monthly membership. Bigs and Littles can also receive a buy one, get one free day pass when they climb together at Odyssey.

We had such a great time volunteering at this year’s Packers 5K Run/Walk! 🏃‍♀️💚

Thank you to all of our volunteers who handed out water and Gatorade and cheered on the runners and walkers. You made it such a fun event!

Congratulations to Nick Skeen, Nick Kornaus, and Matt Coopman, our 2025 Marie Krohn Board Members of the Year! 🎉

This award honors board members who showed exceptional support throughout the past year and reflect the dedication, generosity, energy, and spirit of former board member Marie Krohn.

Along with serving on our board, all three are Big Brothers and employees at Breakthrough. Their involvement has helped our Workplace Mentoring Program at Breakthrough grow and continue making a positive difference for local youth.
