You can make twice the impact with the gift of transportation.

Did you see Green Bay Metro reduced the fare for monthly bus passes? http://ow.ly/CRzy50NyMzi

Imagine not having transportation to get to and from work, medical appointments, or job interviews.

Your gift of transportation can be doubled today through the end of 2023. Green Bay Metro has reduced its fare for monthly bus passes. A donation of $38 can now provide two monthly bus passes instead of one, like in the past.

We are excited to bring to your attention that St. John's Ministries has partnered with Robert Craig Films No Address Movie to bring additional awareness to the homeless crisis in our communities. The company is producing the movie No Address and a documentary called Americans With No Address.

The full-length feature film No Address will be released in the Spring of 2024. The film is studded with Hollywood celebrities such as William Baldwin, Ashanti, and Xander Berkeley to name a few. The film is about a group of people who fall into homelessness and band together to survive on the streets.

Additionally, Robert Craig Films is giving 50% of the net proceeds and $1,000,000 from the Robert Craig Films Foundation to be shared by other nonprofits involved in homelessness across the country, and we have been approved to be a recipient!

Their missional goals are the same as ours: To help those experiencing homelessness, access the support they need to obtain sustainable housing and services, and get their lives back together.

Our team has embarked on a two week nationwide tour promoting our feature film, No Address and its accompanying documentary, Americans With No Address. Join our mission of bringing awareness and solutions to the growing homelessness crisis.

On Tuesday, members of the Life Job Network held their bi-monthly meeting at the Micah Center.

The Life Jobs Network motto is "It is easy to get a job, but harder to keep a job." They aim to inform one another and area employers on the understanding that special populations may require special attention to maintain employment and excel in the workplace.

You can join their next meeting on January 9th from 7:30-9am at the Micah Center.

5th graders from Aldo Leopold Community School recently joined us to tour our Men's Shelter. They collected donations to support men and women in their community who needed essential items for everyday life.

"It is so fun to teach, answer questions, and discuss community needs with the young men and women who will one day be raising their families in this same community." - Tony Schneider

Thank you Aldo Leopold students - it was a joy to host you!

The number of people experiencing homelessness is at an all-time high, and their hardship during this holiday season has increased. Our homeless brothers and sisters face bitter cold, hunger, loneliness, and heartbreak. Did you see the Women's Shelter at St. John's Ministries is reopening next Monday?

Your gifts during any day, and especially during tomorrow's , will help provide much-needed shelter services and daytime resources. Many in our community are struggling, and women who seek shelter have endured more than we can fathom—trauma, abuse, and trafficking.

Wellspring is a daytime resource center for women only in the heart of downtown Green Bay. It provides a peaceful, caring place to connect with other women who are facing similar issues and difficulties, especially when their lives get very challenging. For many women in transition out of homelessness, Wellspring serves as another family, a place to belong, and a friend away from home – with programming focusing on mind, body and spirit.

November is National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month.

House of Hope Green Bay has partnered with Home Base, a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley to bring support and awareness for youth seeking shelter and support in the Greater Green Bay area.

Although we do not shelter youth, we offer resources, referrals, and supplies to assist them on their journey, hoping they find the support they need with local partners in Green Bay and the Fox Cities.

Volunteer Spotlight- The 4th Cohort of the Kairos Men

Kairos (pronounced 'KAI-ros') is Greek for “a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action: The opportune and decisive moment.”

This group marks the fourth year of volunteerism from cohorts of the Kairos Year of the Diocese of Green Bay. Joseph, David and Nathan began volunteering this fall and will continue through the spring of 2024, primarily at the Micah Center. They will build relationships and rapport with guests through conversation.

The Kairos Year, a year-long formation opportunity for young men who feel called to serve Jesus Christ as future priests in the Catholic Church, allows participants to grow in discipleship and discern towards the priesthood. Ministry to the homeless is an integral part of the Kairos Year because it helps the men understand not only poverty in the area where they will one day serve as priests but it also gives them the experience to minister to all people effectively. The Kairos Men are trying to form their lives after Jesus Christ, who deeply loved the poor.

Because of this, the Kairos Men have always found joy and meaning in volunteering at St. John’s Ministries. Nathan’s perspective captures the collective feeling of the group. He says, “I hope to gain experience of being Christ-like to all and seeing Jesus in all by loving and serving each guest I meet.”

Wisconsin Public Radio wrote about our shelter staffing shortages, which have forced us to temporarily close the Women's Shelter. We are diligently recruiting, hiring and training more staff to reopen that location. Women in our community have faced significant trauma, abuse, trafficking and other challenges. They are currently being safely sheltered and cared for at our Men's Shelter location.

Short-staffing is forcing a homeless shelter in northeast Wisconsin to consolidate its operations.

Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin recently shed light on our staff shortages, which temporarily closed the Women's Shelter. We are working hard to recruit, hire and train more staff to open the shelter for women as soon as possible.

Look at the smile on Mary's face. SHE HAS HER OWN APARTMENT AGAIN!!!

After 10 months of struggling with homelessness, Mary moved into her apartment last week. Linda, a volunteer with St. John's Ministries, took Mary to use a furniture voucher and she picked out this chair. This chair is critical because Mary often needs to sleep in a recliner for health reasons.

Congratulations Mary. We are proud of you!

On behalf of our entire St. John’s Ministries family, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, our community of supporters, for assisting us as we opened our shelter season last night.

We welcomed 25 women and 52 men for a warm meal and a safe night of sleep from the bitter cold.

As our St. John’s Ministries family continues to provide vital shelter services, we are incredibly grateful to each of you for providing resources and advocacy to make our mission possible. Together, we honor dignity, restore hope, and create lasting change for those experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

From the depth of our hearts, thank you,
