What if your next year could be more than a job - what if it could be a year of service, growth, and impact?

St. John's Ministries is recruiting a Volunteer Engagement AmeriCorps Member for the 2026–2027 service year!

As a year-long, half-time AmeriCorps member, you'll gain valuable nonprofit experience while helping strengthen one of Green Bay's largest volunteer programs. You'll build relationships, support the volunteers who make our mission possible, and play a meaningful role in serving neighbors experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Last season alone, volunteers contributed more than 18,000 hours serving at St. John's Ministries. This position helps ensure every volunteer feels welcomed, equipped, and connected so they can continue making a lasting difference.

If you're looking for an opportunity to grow professionally while serving your community, we'd love to hear from you.

Contact Volunteer Coordinator Brooke Graham at [email protected] to learn more and apply.

🥣 Calling all cereal champions!

We have an important breakfast announcement: our cereal shelves are looking a little... empty.

Cereal is a favorite morning staple at St. John’s Ministries, and our guests appreciate having choices. (And yes - the colorful, fun cereals bring a little extra joy to the morning! 🌈)

Right now, we’re looking for donations of cereal to bring some variety back to the breakfast table. We can also use paper bowls and plates to help serve those morning meals.

We currently have plenty of plain and Honey Nut Cheerios, so we’re hoping to add some new favorites to the mix.

Thank you for helping us start each day with a meal, a little comfort, and a reminder that our neighbors are cared for. ❤️

Donations can be dropped off at St. John’s Ministries or purchased through our wishlist: https://stjohnsgreenbay.org/give/st-johns-ministries-donation-wish-list/

"It brings me comfort knowing that Sam will have lived the remainder of his life with dignity. Sam isn't lonely, cold, or hungry."

Those words from longtime volunteer and Board member Fred Fleischman capture the heart of why he continues to serve at St. John's Ministries. A reminder of why dignity, compassion, and human connection matter so deeply.

His reflection is a reminder that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply showing up for one another.

👟 Our Men's Shelter shelves are running low - and we need your help.

Shelter needs don’t disappear when winter ends. In fact, summer brings its own set of essentials that help our guests stay comfortable, prepared, and supported.

Right now, the following items are completely out or very low:

👟 Men's tennis shoes sizes 9-10
🩳 Men's athletic shorts (sizes small–XL)
🩲 Boxers and briefs (sizes L and 2XL)
🩴 "Shower shoes" - flip-flops, or slides (something that can get wet)

With summer heat, comfortable clothing and shower essentials are especially important.

Donations of new or gently used items can be dropped off at St. John's Ministries Men's Shelter or purchased through our wishlist: https://stjohnsgreenbay.org/give/st-johns-ministries-donation-wish-list/

Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors. ❤️

Last week, a group of our guests and staff spent the afternoon exploring one of Wisconsin's greatest treasures: Lambeau Field.

For many, it was their first visit.

There were smiles, laughter, stories shared, and memories made. But this wasn't just about football.

Lambeau Field stands as a symbol of something uniquely Green Bay. Built through grit, resilience, and the unwavering support of a community, the Green Bay Packers remain the only major professional sports team owned by the people. It's a legacy that reminds us what can happen when a community comes together around a common purpose.

That's what this day was about.

The people we serve are so much more than their housing status. They are our neighbors. They deserve opportunities to experience joy, to feel like they belong, and to create memories alongside the rest of their community.

Because homelessness isn't a "them" problem. It's a "we" problem.

Just as the Packers are proudly owned by the people, the well-being of our community belongs to all of us. We all have a role to play in ensuring every neighbor has the opportunity to experience safety, belonging, and hope.

When a community chooses to show up for one another, real change becomes possible. That can look like volunteering, donating, sharing a meal, creating moments of belonging, or taking time to better understand the realities that contribute to homelessness. It also means listening to the voices of people with lived experience so that, together, we can work toward solutions that address the needs they identify - from affordable housing and transportation to mental health care and supportive services.

A heartfelt thank you to Thrivent Action Teams for helping make this outing possible and to the Green Bay Packers for extending a generous community discount. Together, you helped create an afternoon our guests won't soon forget. 💚💛

*Honoring dignity also means honoring privacy. At our guests' request, we've only shared photos of staff from this outing, while celebrating a great day together.*

We were grateful to welcome Crisis Cafe to St. John's Ministries, serving another delicious lunch to our community with the warmth and generosity we've come to know and appreciate.

Their mission is rooted in relationships. As Crisis Cafe shares, "Food meets the immediate need, but relationships go beyond the food to nourish the soul."

That spirit is evident wherever they serve. While we're always grateful when they're here, their impact reaches far beyond our parking lot. Throughout the year, Crisis Cafe faithfully serves our neighbors experiencing homelessness in parks, parking lots, their new homes... meeting people where they are with consistency, compassion, and the love of Christ.

Thank you, Crisis Cafe, for being such a faithful partner to St. John's Ministries and to so many throughout Greater Green Bay. Thank you for reminding us that every meal is an opportunity to build relationships, offer encouragement, and let people know they are not forgotten.
