We're extremely lucky to have such a valuable Chief who goes above and beyond for not only our little community, but the surrounding ones as well!

We want to send a huge thank you to Chief Brian Legons from the Greenfield Police Department for coming out yesterday afternoon for an active shooter presentation. We had the privilege of working with Chief Legons a few years ago with some hands-on training with our department and we were thrilled to have him back on our campus to talk to our Faculty as we get ready for the Fall 2026 semester.

Greenfield Police Department Announces Safe Recovery of Missing Juveniles

Greenfield, Tennessee – July 16, 2026

The Greenfield Police Department is pleased to announce the safe recovery of the two juveniles who were reported missing on July 10, 2026.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on July 10, the juveniles left their residence in Greenfield, Tennessee, and were observed traveling north on U.S. Highway 45. As the investigation progressed, investigators utilized License Plate Reader (LPR) technology, which confirmed the vehicle was traveling north through Bowling Green, Kentucky, before later being detected in the Owensboro, Kentucky, area during the early morning hours.

Throughout the investigation, the Greenfield Police Department received numerous tips and investigative leads regarding the juveniles' possible whereabouts. On July 16, 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff's Office located both juveniles safe and unharmed.

The juveniles were transported to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, where they were safely reunited with their parents.

The Greenfield Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office for its prompt response and outstanding assistance in locating the juveniles and ensuring their safe return.

The department would also like to publicly recognize and thank the many agencies that provided support throughout this investigation. Their cooperation, expertise, and resources were instrumental in bringing this case to a successful conclusion. Special thanks are extended to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Secret Service, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Weakley County 911 for their willingness to provide assistance and resources whenever needed.

Finally, the Greenfield Police Department would like to express its gratitude to the families for the trust, patience, and confidence they placed in our department throughout this investigation. Our personnel worked tirelessly around the clock with one goal in mind—to safely reunite these children with their loved ones.

The Greenfield Police Department is grateful for the support received from our law enforcement partners and the community and is thankful that this case ended with the safe return of both juveniles.

Greenfield Police Department Seeks Public's Assistance in Locating Two Missing Juveniles

GREENFIELD, Tenn. — The Greenfield Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating two missing juveniles, Porter Shell, 17, and Serenity Smitherman, 14, who were last seen on the evening of July 10 in Greenfield, Tennessee.
According to available information, the two were last seen at approximately 8:00 p.m. traveling in a Red 2010 Ford F-150 bearing Tennessee license plate 203 BBDR.
At the time they were last seen:

Serenity Smitherman was wearing a black tank top and gray shorts.
Porter Shell was wearing a black Salt Life T-shirt and black pants.
The Greenfield Police Department urges anyone who has seen the juveniles, the vehicle, or who has any information regarding their whereabouts to contact the department immediately. Even seemingly minor details may be valuable to the investigation.

Someone has found these babies on the 4 lane by the dollar store. Does anyone know where we belong? They are safe in a fenced area at the moment, but very eager to find where home is!

There's now a live trap set up for the pooch that's been on the loose for the past couple weeks!

🐾‼️Pupdate 6/23/26

No luck in catching him yet ! Though we almost had him a few times 😫. The stress of him going in and out of traffic is sooo stressful to watch . We are not giving up !

We were going to relocate the trap ! But there is just too many ppl feeding him !

So we are putting in the hours to set with him ! But if the opportunity presents itself to snag him we will ! We want him safe and off the streets ! He is covered in ticks and fleas and we want to bring him halfway home so he can receive the love he wants so desperately!!

Yesterday ! We stayed out 3 hours . With no luck . We check the trap through out the day ! Every hour ! And this morning I got really excited! Thought we may have caught him , but it was a cat ! We took the trap up because he was sitting right there looking at the kitty get trapped ! I was very hesitant before about him going in the trap ! He is too smart for all that !

So we are taking the spending time approach and then snag him . We need everyone’s prayers . We are wanting to catch him before he is hurt worse or killed !

We will still be updating as we go ! Thank you all so much ! Big shout out to Stacy Smith. For showing up and helping !

We were out all day relentlessly trying to get him ! We had so many people trying to help when we almost had him ! But sadly he got scared away ! We appreciate the help !! We know a lot of folks had good intentions!

But !!! We do have a plan in place to catch him ! If you would like to help !! We will be meeting in the parking lot in front of the feed lot tomorrow! All who want to help we ask to meet at 11 am So we can let you in on our plan to catch him and we can work together to get him instead of everyone running him everywhere ! We are asking if possible wear a red shirt ! That way we can keep up with everyone . Our main Goal is to catch him safely and keep everyone safe in the process

A lot of people think he will just come up to you and he will not ! Tomorrow 6/20 is the day ! We plan on bringing him halfway home !!

Prayer please!!!! And if you can help !! Meet us in town ! 🙏🏻🐾 The more ppl we have that know the plan the better chances we have of catching him

We are asking for the community’s help in not feeding him at this time to allow him to go into the trap

We have people around the area helping maintain an eye on the trap Greenfield Police Dept and the Weakley County Sheriffs Dept have been notified that the trap is in place

Send up prayers and keep your fingers and toes crossed we can get this baby and bring him halfway home .

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of retired Deputy Terry Guthrie.

Deputy Guthrie dedicated years of service to his community and to law enforcement, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to serve alongside him. His commitment, professionalism, and dedication to protecting others will not be forgotten.

The thoughts and prayers of the Weakley County Sheriff's Office family are with Deputy Guthrie's loved ones, friends, and all who knew him during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Guthrie. Your service and sacrifice will always be remembered.

The sweet little guy is officially looking for his furever home! He was the poor baby that was tied up to our kennels 2 weeks ago.He's extremely playful, but he also loves the lazy time as long as there are head scratches involved! He's a sucker for a good treat and loves his toys! He's also been out without a leash and won't leave your side during cleaning time. Does great with other puppers as well!
