This week, we proudly recognize the incredible professionals behind the headsets — our MED-COM telecommunicators.

While they may not always be seen, their impact is felt in every call answered, every unit dispatched, and every life touched. They are the calm voice in chaos, the steady hand guiding responders, and the critical link between our community and emergency services.

Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

From all of us at Belmont Fire — thank you for everything you do behind the scenes to keep our community safe.

Forestry Commission issuing statewide burning ban at 4 p.m. today
The South Carolina Forestry Commission is issuing a State Forester’s Burning Ban for all counties, effective at 4 p.m. today. A State Forester’s Burning Ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard debris burning, prescribed burning, campfires, bonfires and other recreational fires in all unincorporated areas of the state. The ban does not apply to fires used for the preparation of food or fires used in appropriate enclosures (portable outdoor fireplaces, chimineas or permanent fire pits constructed of stone, masonry, metal or other noncombustible material that conforms with all applicable South Carolina fire codes). The ban will stay in effect until further notice.

The men and women of the Belmont Fire Department extend our deepest sympathies to Retired Captain Stephen Quinn and his family on the passing of his mother Shirley Cooke Quinn. Mrs. Quinn passed away just 13 days after her beloved husband Gary Quinn.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment with her boys, their wives, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world.

Mrs. Quinn will be remembered for her strong love for her family, her faith, her servant’s heart, and the beautiful life she shared with her beloved Gary. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she and Gary are together again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
