This Independence Day is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America—a milestone honoring the courage, sacrifice, and freedom that have defined our nation for two and a half centuries.

As you gather with family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate, the Belmont Fire Department encourages everyone to make safety part of your tradition.

Every year, fireworks cause thousands of injuries and hundreds of fires across the country. A few simple precautions can help ensure your celebration ends with great memories—not a trip to the emergency room or a visit from the fire department.

Today we pause to remember the Nine Brave Men who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting their community. This tragic event changed the lives of so many in the Charleston Community, The State of South Carolina, and across our Nation. To all of the families, know we will continue to honor your loved one and the legacy they left behind.

We’re happy to announce that we have received our 2026 V-SAFE Grant award in the amount of $14,700.

This funding, provided through the Volunteer Strategic Assistance and Fire Equipment Grant Program, was earmarked for personal protective equipment, which we have now received.

Thank you to the State of South Carolina and the South Carolina Fire Marshal’s Office for facilitating this important grant program each year and for their continued support of Volunteer & Combination Fire Departments across our state.
