The pattern is trending wetter by the end of this week into early next week. A surge of tropical moisture originating over the Caribbean will make a run for the Gulf Coast, increasing the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms as it interacts with a weakening frontal boundary.

At this time, it's too early to nail down specific details on which days look wetter than others. There could be a flood risk depending on how things shake out.

While afternoon temps will trend down, nights will be warm and muggy with this tropical air mass in place. Posted 9.28.26 4:55 PM

The seasons are changing… FINALLY. 🍂

Late next week around Thursday, just in time for October, things may get a little STORMY.

BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE.

Once the atmosphere finishes throwing furniture around, FRONTS WILL FOLLOW.

And not one of those Temu cold fronts that drops the humidity for 17 minutes.

We’re talking some of the best-feeling air we’ve had down here yet.

October might actually understand the assignment. 🍂👏

Fay Fizzles, FOX Weather Pushing C.A.G., Fronts Are Coming Here

Yesterday the NHC tropical discussion was showing Tropical Storm Fay gaining Cat. 1 hurricane strength for today. She looked well organized with a central core, but overnight, in this El Niño summer of wind shear, she was blown apart. Let's begin by showing you Fay from yesterday.

It's Monday! And it's a special Monday since this week brings the end of summer and the start of fall on the calendar. Guess what... I'm actually tracking another weak cool front that could arrive just in time for the first weekend of fall!

Looking Ahead: Watching the Tropics from a Distance 🌀

*Not a forecast*

Two of the long-range computer models (the GFS and EURO shown here) are hinting at the potential for some sort of system development in the Gulf roughly 10 days out.

Important context:
These are strictly long-range model runs, not a forecast or a guaranteed event.
Model trends this far out change constantly with every single run.
There is zero reason to panic or change plans right now.

For everyone across South Louisiana, South Mississippi, South Alabama, and Florida, this is simply a reminder that despite being a slow season thus far, we are still in peak hurricane season. We've got plenty of time to watch how these trends evolve over the next week.

Stay tuned for regular, calm updates! 📉👀

Heads up, Gulf Coast! Daily downpours are expected throughout the week as very high atmospheric moisture bubbles inland from the Gulf. Localized street flooding will be possible, especially in areas hit by repeated heavy rain. Hot spots of 2-4" of rain over the next 5 days. While the severe risk appears low, a few storms could also become strong. Gusty winds and frequent lightning will be the primary hazards. Stay weather-aware! ⛈️🌧️

The “Brown Ocean Effect” is on full display with Edouard’s eye and core still in tact on radar this morning. Catastrophic flooding is ongoing in SE Texas where 1 - 2 feet has fallen with reports of water entering homes. Over 30,000 customers are without power. 🌀
