Firearms Licensing Update
June 17, 2020

The Hanover Police Department will begin processing NEW LTC/FID applications the week of July 6, 2020. Please send an email to [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

All NEW LTC/FID appointments will be scheduled via email. When an applicant arrives at HPD, they will call dispatch at 781-826-3131 to say they have arrived for their scheduled LTC/FID appointment. An officer will meet the applicant in the parking lot where the applicant will provide their application as well as proof of licensing fee payment. The applicant will be escorted to the garage bay area where there will be a temperature check and a PPE check prior to entering the station. If all is satisfactory, the applicant will be escorted into the booking area where fingerprinting will be conducted. After the fingerprinting process, the applicant will immediately return to their vehicle.

If you have already been in contact with us about your NEW LTC/FID application we will be contacting YOU via email. We encourage all RENEWAL applicants to please mail/drop off your applications and proof of payment.

The ‪Hanover Police Department has seen a recent increase in unemployment fraud where the person is being notified that they have been enrolled in an unemployment program.

Memorial Day will be on Monday, May 25, 2020. The Town of Hanover, Veterans' Service Office, and Hanover Public Schools present the Reverse Parade Project. This year, we are asking residents to participate in a special two-part community art project with the mission of creating a message of patriotism, hope, and unity.

Limitations like social distancing and quarantine create obstacles to medical care, especially for the isolated elderly and other socially and medically vulnerable populations.

The Town of Hanover and the Hanover Fire Department are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has approved a temporary license that will allow for a Mobile Integrated Health Program to operate within the community. The Program represents a cooperative effort between the Hanover Fire Department and South Shore Health to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency in the Town of Hanover. The license, granted to South Shore Health System will allow the Town to provide in-home assessment, COVID-19 testing and emergent treatment by Hanover Firefighter/Paramedics with nurse follow up under the oversight of the Health Systems current Mobile Integrated Health Program operating in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The Program will be available to the residents in Hanover with specific attention placed on our elderly population and those who are most vulnerable.

Hanover’s Mobile Integrated Health Program is an innovative approach toward meeting the health needs of our residents during the COVID-19 Pandemic and represents the first such Program in the Commonwealth. The Program is a collaborative venture that brings together resources from the Hanover Board of Health, the Hanover Public Health Nurse, the Hanover MA Fire Department, Hanover Police Department, and Emergency Communications Center, Hanover Visiting Nurse Association, Hanover Emergency Management Agency, Hanover Public Schools and Hanover Technology Operations.

The Board of Health announces the availability of in-home paramedic visits, testing if criteria are met, and patient follow-up phone calls, by Hanover nurses, for eligible citizens.
