We want to thank State Representitive Donna Scheuren for her unwaivering committment to the volunteers of her district! We are so very thankful for her support!!!
"Earlier this week, I had the privilege of presenting a $70,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to the Telford Volunteer Dive & Rescue Unit—a dedicated team whose quiet, behind-the-scenes work often makes the difference between life and death.
With this funding, the unit was able to purchase a brand-new rescue truck, proudly named “Kraken Jr.” The vehicle is fully outfitted to meet the needs of the dive and rescue team, allowing them to respond faster and more effectively when every second counts. Whether it’s a water rescue, search and recovery, or assisting other emergency crews, this new truck will expand their capabilities and help them continue serving our community with excellence.
Even more impressive, the department stretched the remaining grant funds to purchase a state-of-the-art underwater camera at a small cost to them. Since their old camera is no longer able to be serviced, this new addition will dramatically enhance their ability to safely and accurately conduct underwater searches.
The recent tragedy in Texas, where Hurricane Beryl’s flooding claimed multiple lives, is a heartbreaking reminder of how crucial dive and rescue teams are—not just during storms, but year-round. While we pray our region is spared by such devastation, we must be prepared. The work of the Telford Dive & Rescue Unit ensures that if disaster strikes, we have trained capable responders ready to act.
These men and women don’t just serve Telford—they assist neighboring departments, support mutual aid across counties, and stand ready to respond wherever they’re needed. They volunteer their time, risk their lives, and ask for little in return.
As your State Representative, I’m proud to bring resources home to those who serve us so selflessly. This grant is more than a truck and a camera—it’s an investment in safety, preparedness, and in the people who always answer the call when our community needs them most."
