The Town Office will be closed in Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

Curbside pickup will be on Thursday, May 28th this week due to the holiday.

The MSAD #37 District Budget Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 7pm at NHS. The proposed budget is $13.097 million for the 2026/2027 school year. If you would like input on the budget you are urged to attend this meeting. If the proposed budget passes on the 19th, it will be voted on at the June Referendum.

Harrington Shellfish Licenses go on sale beginning Friday, May 15, 2026. The non-resident lottery will be held at 9:00 am. Any person who wishes to be eligible for either a resident or non-resident license must have completed the mandatory conservation as outlined in the the Town of Harrington Municipal Shellfish Conservation Ordinance.

Any individual who wishes to purchase a resident license must prove a minimum of 6 months of residency as outlined in the Town of Harrington Municipal Shellfish Conservation Ordinance.
3 proofs of residency must be shown annually and at least one must be from Section 3.

Section 1 - Copy of Deed and record of most recent mortgage payment; Copy of lease and record of most recent legal affidavit from landlord affirming tenancy; Legal affidavit from landlord affirming tenancy and record of most recent rent payment.
Section 2 - A utility bill or other work order dated within the past 60 days including - gas bill, oil bill, electric bill, telephone bill, cable or satellite bill, W-2 form, excise tax bill, property tax bill dated within the past 60 days, letter from approved Government agency, payroll stub, bank or credit card statement.
Section 3 - Valid Driver's License displaying physical address, valid Maine ID card card displaying physical address, valid passport displaying physical address, current vehicle registration displaying physical address.

Any individual who is unable to provide three proofs of residency as outlined will be treated as a non-resident and may apply to the non-resident lottery.

Notice of Public Hearing

The Town of Harrington’s Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm at the Harrington Town Office to discuss the proposed subdivision: Timber Cove Shores. Any individuals who wish to make comments or ask questions are welcome.

The Selectmen's meeting scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.

The next scheduled Selectmen's meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 5:00 pm at the Harrington Town Office.

2026 SHELLFISH CONSERVATION SCHEDULE
Per the amended 2026 Shellfish Conservation Ordinance, individuals who wish to purchase a Harrington Shellfish License are required to complete 10 hours of Conservation. Exceptions for senior citizens, students, active-duty military, and veterans in which there will be a 5 hour requirement each year. Individuals 16 years of age and younger are exempt from completing mandatory conservation.
Participants will meet at the Harrington Town Office at 114 East Main Street in Harrington to check in with the Shellfish Warden prior to joining the group at the designated area.
Boots, a clam hoe, and a bucket are required to participate in conservation efforts.

TOWN OF HARRINGTON - 2026 COMMERCIAL SHELLFISH LICENSES

RESIDENT LICENSES
Resident Shellfish licenses will go on sale beginning Friday, May 15, 2026. Applications are available at the Town Office during regular business hours or online at www.harringtonmaine.com and will be accepted beginning Friday, May 15, 2026. Resident licenses are available to any person who meets the residency criteria and who has completed the mandatory conservation activities stated in the Town of Harrington Shellfish Conservation Ordinance. 2026 Shellfish Licenses are not valid for use until June 1, 2026.

NON-RESIDENT LICENSES
Applications for non-resident shellfish licenses are available at the Town Office during regular business hours or online at www.harringtonmaine.com and will be accepted beginning Friday, May 15, 2026. Licenses will be drawn on May 15, 2026, at 9:00 am in the Town Office lobby. All applicants wishing to purchase said license must be present, submit a completed application, have a picture ID, and have completed the mandatory conservation activities, as stated in the Town of Harrington Shellfish Conservation Ordinance, and have payment in full at the time of drawing. Any person who does not receive a license on the date of the drawing will be placed on a waiting list in the order drawn and people on this waiting list will be notified by phone when another license is available. Licenses awarded from the waiting list must be purchased within three (3) business days from date of notification.

License availability and fees are as follows:
Commercial Resident with mandatory conservation – $550 unlimited availability
Commercial Non-Resident with mandatory conservation - $825 5 licenses available
Commercial Junior Resident with mandatory conservation - $275 unlimited availability
Commercial Junior Non-Resident with mandatory conservation - $412.50 1 license available
Commercial Senior Resident with mandatory conservation - $275 unlimited availability
Commercial Senior Non-Resident with mandatory conservation - $412.50 1 license available

Junior and Senior Commercial Shellfish Licenses are held by individuals under 16 years of age and older than 65 years.

Conservation credit is given to individuals who complete ten hours of conservation with the Harrington Shellfish Conservation Committee. Individuals 16 years of age and younger are not required to complete the conservation efforts to obtain a license.

All individuals are urged to review the Shellfish Conservation Ordinance to be aware of all requirements and/or exemptions that pertain to their individual situation. Ordinances can be found on the Town’s website at www.harringtonmaine.com under Shellfish Conservation, or copies can be obtained at the Town Office.
