Tonight! Come hear 2026 Notable Book author Robert Carlos Fuentes here at 7:00 pm at the Hart Community Center. Just across the parking lot from the Hart Area Public Library, you can experience his retelling of his life as a kid in the cherry picking industry.

We had a great time at the Friends of the Library book sale and the Asparagus Parade. What a great kick-off for summer reading! Thank you to everyone who donated books, set up and worked the book sale, and to everyone who helped with and rode the parade float! Make sure to stop by the library to sign up for the summer reading program!

Welcome to Jurassic Library!

These two were caught in Hart Area Public Library putting on a puppet show and reading books in our space. They stopped by to tell us they will be hanging out at the Joan Glover Royal Parade on Saturday. The parade starts at 2 pm. Check out the parade route on the National Asparagus Festival of Oceana County, MI page, and come sign up for the summer reading program while you're downtown!

We are delighted to showcase the art of three Oceana County students who were winners of the 2026 Oceana County Student Art Show sponsored by the Pentwater Arts Council. Pictured below is Kelly Torres-Uresti, a student at Hart High School. Kelly's life-sized figure of popular Manga character Kei Uzuki won best of show. The art pieces will be on display at the library all summer.

Michigan Notable Books Honoree Robert "Carlos" Fuentes will be at the Hart Area Public Library on June 15 at 7pm!

Join Michigan Notable Books Honoree, Robert “Carlos” Fuentes, author of The Vacation: A Teenage Migrant Farmworker’s Experience Picking Cherries in Michigan, as he visits MI Libraries on the MNB Author Tour! He will be at Oscoda County District Library tonight, Tuesday, June 2 at 6:00 pm, at Hart Area Public Library on Monday, June 15 at 7:00 pm, and at Fennville District Library on Tuesday, June 16 at 7:00 pm.

Starting June 8th, Feeding America West Michigan is once again providing summer meals to the Hart Area Public Library for children!
No proof of income or registration is needed, youth 18 and under and adults with disabilities up to age 26 can pick-up shelf-stable meals this summer. Adults may pick up meals for children. Meals do not need to be eaten at the library.
Monday-Friday 11:30am-1pm at the circulation desk
