Our deepest condolences go out to the Hansen family on the loss of Shawn Hansen.
Shawn was a valued member of our department for 32 years, dedicating much of his life to serving others and his community. During his time with the department, Shawn served as a member of Emergency Management for Adams County and proudly served as Chief of the Ayr Station for many years.
Those who had the privilege of truly knowing Shawn would describe him as incredibly knowledgeable, kindhearted, dependable, and always willing to help. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Above all, Shawn was simply a firefighter’s firefighter—someone who exemplified the heart, dedication, and brotherhood that define the fire service.
Rest easy, Brother. We’ll take it from here.
