We would like to extend our appreciation to Blue Hill Fire Department for inviting us to their house training.
It is not often that volunteer firefighters have the opportunity to train in a structure where live-fire evolutions can be conducted. This type of training is essential to our mission and professional development.
It allows us to start with the fundamentals—understanding fire behavior, observing how fire grows and reacts, and learning to read smoke conditions. We can watch thermal layering develop in real time and practice the techniques that are most effective for advancing safely toward the seat of the fire.
Most importantly, it provides new firefighters with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to feel the heat, operate in blackout conditions, and gain the confidence and skills that can only be developed through realistic training.
As always, stay safe.
