About a year ago, I had the privilege of taking a personal tour of Harford Hall. It is truly one of Haverford Township’s hidden gems. (Sharing a few photos from that visit here!)

This beautifully restored stone home on Mill Road tells the story of the early Welsh Quaker settlers who helped shape our community and its history. Through the dedication and hard work of its owner, Harford Hall was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, an incredible and well-deserved recognition.

The Board of Commissioners was proud to support the application process by passing a Resolution in support of the designation. Preserving and celebrating places like Harford Hall helps ensure that the rich history of our community continues to be shared for generations to come.

Haverford Township's next Board of Commissioners Work Session is on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Building (1014 Darby Road).

Please note that Work Sessions are non-voting sessions. Rather, Work Sessions provide Commissioners the opportunity to discuss agenda items in greater detail and gain additional information about other important Township projects and initiatives. The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint
on Friday May 29th, 2026 in Haverford Township.

Havertown, PA - The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is comprised of five
municipalities - Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor and Springfield Townships. It has been in operation since September 2009 and has conducted 125 operations to date. The taskforce has arrested 191 drivers for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs, and issued 49 citations for underage drinking along with 1376 citations and 2242 warnings for other motor vehicle violations.

The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers; roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways.

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce reminds all drivers over the age of twenty-one (21) to be responsible and NEVER operate a motor vehicle while impaired. Read carefully all instruction labels on prescription or over the counter medications and make arrangements prior to consuming alcohol for a designated driver. Don’t risk arrest, injury or death.

Check out the 2026 Delaware County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event schedule, giving residents multiple opportunities throughout the year to safely and responsibly dispose of materials that don’t belong in the trash. Proper HHW disposal helps protect public health and our environment, and these events make it easy to do the right thing, at no cost to residents.

Please note that only approved HHW materials will be accepted. Vehicles without an appointment and those bringing unacceptable items will be turned away. This includes no trash, no electronics, and no latex paint. Taking advantage of these events is an important way to keep harmful materials out of our waterways, soil, and neighborhoods.
