If you’re an active volunteer firefighter, EMS provider, or rescue provider in Pennsylvania, you may be eligible for the Active Volunteer Tuition and Loan Assistance Program through PHEAA.

The program provides financial assistance to help eligible volunteers pay for college or repay student loans. It’s a great way to recognize and support those who give their time to keep our communities safe. If you or someone you know is an active volunteer, it’s worth looking into this opportunity.

With schools back in session on Tuesday, it’s a good time to remind everyone to prioritize safety on our roads. Please drive with extra care as students return to classrooms. Here are a few important back-to-school safety tips for drivers:

🚫 Never pass a school bus that is loading or unloading
📍 Use designated drop-off and pick-up areas
👀 Be extra alert for children in residential neighborhoods and school zones
⚠️ Obey reduced speed limits in school zones
🛑 Follow all instructions from crossing guards
📵 Eliminate distractions — no cell phone use while driving (it’s the law!)
