September is Fall Prevention Awareness Month, and on Tuesday, September 29, Spectrum will celebrate with our annual Fall Prevention Awareness Walk. Bringing our community together to raise awareness about the importance of staying active, building strength and balance, and supporting independence as we age.

Kaiser Permanente’s support helps Spectrum bring fall prevention education, classes, and opportunities for connection to more older adults in our community.

🦁 The Spectrum Outreach Team had an amazing time last Thursday at the Oakland Zoo for the !

They spent the day sharing how Spectrum supports our Alameda County neighbors. From healthy meals and energy assistance to more energy-efficient homes and fall prevention.

🍽️ Our Senior Congregate Meals team shared our menus filled with healthy, delicious meals and talked with attendees about signing up for our lunch service.

💡 LIHEAP helped spread the word that assistance with energy bills may be available to eligible Alameda County residents, while Weatherization shared how we can help make homes more energy-efficient and comfortable.

🚶 And our Fall Prevention instructors got everyone moving with a mini class. Showing that staying active can be fun while helping build strength and balance to prevent falls!

We love getting out into the community, meeting our neighbors, and sharing resources that can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! 💙

📣 Today, Spectrum Community Services is joining nonprofits across California for a Statewide Day of Action urging Governor Newsom to sign SB 1240 and establish the Office of Nonprofit Empowerment (ONE).

California nonprofits provide critical services in communities across the state, but too often we face red tape, administrative hurdles, and delays in state funding that can make it harder to get those services where they’re needed most.

We believe nonprofits deserve a dedicated advocate in state government—one that can help make state support more consistent, equitable, and timely.

For Spectrum, this matters because the work we do every day—providing meals, fall prevention, energy assistance, weatherization, and other essential services—depends on our ability to focus our resources where they belong: serving our community.
