Hempstead ISD campuses and offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday, September 8. We wish our students, families, and staff a safe and restful long weekend!

Did you know? Hempstead ISD has increased its accountability score from 58 to 77 since 2022. Over this period, Hempstead ISD is the number 1 district for growth in Region 4 and number 3 for the entire state.

That is 19 points of progress built through strong instruction, high expectations, and consistent focus on student learning.

Hempstead ISD is closely monitoring the weather conditions. Due to the anticipated inclement weather, athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, have been canceled. Stay Weather Aware Bobcats! We want to ensure our Bobcat families, students, and staff are aware of our inclement weather procedures. We also want to make sure that you receive severe weather communications from the District.

During inclement weather, Hempstead ISD will send communications via email, text, and or phone call. To ensure you receive important information regarding inclement weather, school delays, or closings, please verify your information in ParentPortal. If the decision is made to close schools, Hempstead ISD will contact all major TV stations as well as post the information on our social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X. All Hempstead ISD families are strongly encouraged to complete the 2026-2027 socioeconomic form. These forms will be sent home with each student, Pre-K- 12th grade.

Hempstead ISD will continue its policy to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2026-2027 school year. However, to ensure that we can continue qualifying for this opportunity, we need all socioeconomic forms completed and returned by Friday, September 4.

Happy First Day of School to Hempstead Early Childhood Center, Hempstead Middle School. and Hempstead High School! We are excited to start another school year with growth, achievement, and new opportunities for our students and staff in Hempstead ISD.

Superintendent O'Neil spent the morning visiting campuses and classrooms to ensure our students and staff started the year off right!
