TOWN HALL MEETING - THIS THURSDAY August 5th 7pm. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5538138113
Come contribute your voice toward the options to strengthen services in our community.

Dear Community Members,

Thank you for your interest in and engagement with the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District (RHFPD), demonstrated by your turnout and participation at recent RHFPD, Rodeo Municipal Advisory Council, and Hercules City Council meetings.
The board has heard you and the community and is responding by providing the following updates on two topics that generated multiple comments and much interest: the annexation proposal and a RHFPD strategic plan.

Annexation Proposal - The RHFPD Board has made NO decision regarding annexation, and there will be NO decision made in August regarding RHFPD annexation.
Two other fire protection districts, CCCFPD (“Con Fire”) and ECCFPD (“East County”), have made the decision to go forward with annexation. Con Fire and East County will continue to work with the Contra Costa Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) on their proposal for annexation. Con Fire’s annexation of East County is not dependent on RHFPD being a part of this process. This fact was stated by the AP Triton consultant at the feasibility study presentation on July 15, 2021, and by Con Fire’s Chief Broschard at RHFPD’s workshop on July 28, 2021. RHFPD is named in the LAFCO documents submitted by Con Fire and East County, for convenience in the event RHFPD decides in favor of annexation.

Strategic Planning - RHFPD will host a Town Hall Community event on August 5, 2021, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m
This will be an interactive meeting on zoom where we will ask for input on the priorities, metrics, and data critical to be a part of a future RHFPD strategic plan. For example, call volumes and average response times gives us ways of measuring our District’s workload and service quality, but there are other important considerations in planning for RHFPD’s future. We would also like to hear your ideas around options to manage growth.

The topic of strategic planning will be on the agenda at the Board’s regular meeting on August 11, 2021.
We continue to welcome your feedback. Check out our “We've Heard Your Voice" FAQs under Growth Plan on the rhfd.org website. You can submit questions and comments by email to [email protected], or by calling 510-799-8756.

For the last week we have had one of our firefighters up helping out with efforts on the Dixie fire in northern CA. He has been pulling long work days 24 hours straight at a time. Great work out there Barron, I bet you can’t wait to get home and back in a real bed. Stay safe and see you soon. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

“Fourteen years ago, in the early morning hours of July 21, 2007…Fire Captain Matt Burton and Fire Engineer Scott Desmond made the ultimate sacrifice. Both men died in the line of duty while making a valiant effort to rescue an elderly couple trapped in their burning home on Michelle Drive in San Pablo…

Scott and Matt, you are always in our hearts and therefore will never be forgotten”

Staying busy. What caused this one?
Memorialize your past and fallen firefighters with an affordable bronze memorial statue. We offer these incredibly detailed statues in two sizes. A sixteen inch high, thirty pound version of solid bronze and marble perfect for the home or firehouse and a life-sized solid bronze outdoor version that can be the focal point of your firehouse. We engrave your company shield, one to several names and your preferred message on the plaque. For further information Richard 321 804 4642 - www.bronze-depot.com

I am pleased that we see the advantage to all of our citizens in recording and providing live broadcast for all to watch. I have asked that the Live Broadcast be an action item for the October meeting. I look forward to our November, 2018 meeting when we will introduce our first live broadcast! I hope that when we have the live broadcast coordinated with the City of Hercules, our fire apparatus can then remain in their stations and watch the RHFD meetings on their station TV. Director William "Bill" Prather, Serving our citizens since 1994!
