We came for the sunset. 😎 We stayed for the shopping. 🛍️

The 5th annual UH Alumni Makers’ Market took over The Royal Hawaiian on Wednesday — 40+ alumni-owned businesses on the shores of Waikīkī.

Proud to see our own in the lineup: Moeariʻi Phillips of ARII HAWAIʻI Jewelry & Mea (College of Hawaiian Language), Courtney Sabater-Hart of Welo Creations (College of Business and Economics), and HawCC alumna Raelee Takeyesu of Custom Cakess HILO

Mahalo nui to Chancellor Irwin for hosting our UH Hilo table! 🌋

Hands-on classroom experience starts here! This summer, our Kahuawaiola teacher candidates are guiding the next generation of Hawaiian immersion learners.

Because learning goes beyond classroom walls, connection to the ʻāina is a core pillar of this education—teaching keiki to care for the environment around them. Through these meaningful relationships, our candidates focus on building personal connections that help students grow their confidence in speaking Hawaiian, cultivating supportive, culturally rooted spaces where every student feels heard and encouraged to learn.

Behind every successful classroom is a strong community. Mahalo to the Kahuawaiola cohort and mentors working to support bilingual education in Hawaiʻi!

This trend but UH Hilo version ❤️

Same words, different tones, one shared purpose - that’s what yesterday’s staff assembly was all about.

Got a behind-the-scenes look at something really special last week 🎥🌺

The Kahuawaiola (KHWO) Indigenous Teacher Education Program in action — future kumu working alongside students at Ka Haka ʻUla o Keʻelikōlani , from 2nd grade all the way to 8th. Watching these candidates step into the classroom and carry ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi forward? Chills. 🤙

Stay tuned for the full video. 🌋
